This calcium hardness increaser is 4 lbs of calcium chloride flakes. This comes with in a 4 pound bag that has a twist off lid and a handle. The twist off lid makes the container very convenient and easy to use as well as the handle to carry and pour the hardness treatment. Calcium hardness is imperative for any pool or spa to balance the water. This is very easy to use and very easy to pour.In use, this did a great job balancing out my hot tub. I used to be a pool technician for an apartment complex and calcium has always been very important for water chemistry and enhancing the longevity of your pool or spa. This product does require you to test your water and know how much you need to put in. There is an adjustment chart for this but it does not show anything under 10,000 gallons So a little math will be required as well. This is very functional and easy to use. You simply figure out how much you need to put in. I like to pre dissolve it in a bucket before I put it in. This feels like a quality calcium as the effects are instant and this dissolved very quickly for me.The value on this feels about what you would expect to pay for something like this. Calcium flakes are not cheap but this does not feel super expensive either, giving this an expected value in my opinion and at the time of this review.Overall I really like these calcium flakes for the way that they're dispensed. This has been easy to carry and easy to store. I would have no problem recommending this to somebody else.

I received this almost a month ago but it wasn’t quite pool season yet, so I had not used it until yesterday. What attracted me to it is that it comes in a resealable bag with an easy pour spout and screw lid instead of yet another plastic bucket. The largest bag I could order was the 8 pound bag.According to my digital analyzer and the testing at the pool store, I needed to add 15 lbs of hardness to my pool. I always apply only half of the recommendations and then retest the water. I applied these 8 lbs in three bucket fulls of water and product two hours apart as recommended on the bag. The product dissolved quickly and easily in each bucket of water. After retesting, the calcium hardness level did rise in both readings. It still needs a little more and I already used up what I had of this one. I will not order more of this one because I get a better price at the pool store. This 8 lb bag comes to $3.75/lb. The small 8 lb bucket at the pool store comes to $3.50/lb. If I get the 25 lb bucket it comes to $2.40/lb and with the 45 lb bucket it comes to $1.93/lb.

If you own an in-ground pool, maintaining proper calcium hardness is crucial—and this calcium hardness increaser does exactly what it promises. After testing it during spring pool opening and again mid-season after topping off water levels, I was impressed with how quickly and effectively it brought hardness levels back into the ideal range.Low calcium in an in-ground pool can cause long-term damage: plaster can etch, tile grout can deteriorate, and metal components like ladders and heat exchangers can corrode. This product helped stabilize water chemistry within 24 hours without affecting clarity or throwing off pH and alkalinity levels. It's especially useful after heavy rain or water replacement, both of which can dilute calcium levels.Application is straightforward—just broadcast the granules directly into the deep end with the pump running. It dissolves quickly with minimal brushing required. One thing I appreciated was how it didn’t cloud the water or leave any residue, which can happen with lower-quality products. A single 8 lb. container is enough to raise hardness in a standard-sized pool by a noticeable margin, so it offers good value, too. This is a great solution for in-ground pool owners dealing with soft water or looking to maintain surface integrity over time. Use it as a preventative measure at the start of the season and anytime your test kit shows calcium levels dropping below 200 ppm. It's not a flashy product, but it's one of those behind-the-scenes essentials that keeps your pool in top shape. If you care about extending the life of your plaster, tile, and equipment, this belongs in your pool care routine.

When I put up my first above ground pool, I really didn't know what I was getting into. The cost of keeping the water in good condition was quite daunting. My pool needed chlorine, pH+ or maybe pH-, periodic shock treatments, alkalinity increaser, cyanuric acid, algaecide, clarifier, calcium hardness increaser, etc. Without a grasp of the underlying science, I began to wonder if I really needed all these assorted additives. What I found after a few seasons and some hard earned lessons, was that if you want to keep your pool equipment in good shape, you really need to keep some calcium increaser in your water. After shocking and clarifying at the beginning of each summer, getting the ph in balance and keeping the right amount of chlorine in the water, etc. you need to make sure it's got some calcium too. It's the key to preventing surface damage and scaling as well as adding years of use to your other equipment -- lessons I've had to learn the hard way. This Calcium Hardness Treatment from TropiClear is ideal. This is a good amount of product that comes in a heavy duty plastic bag with a handle and a cap that lets me disperse around the edges of the pool or easily pour it in a bucket and broadcast it from the deck. All pool owners need this product.
