I love the pirate ship! I have yet to finish it, but this thing is already a lot bigger than I expected. At first, I didn't think I would be a fan of the big-headed characters, but they're actually very cute. There is a lot of detail in here. The bricks are Lego-compatible. However, it is worth mentioning that as with all generic brand bricks, the fit is not perfect. Some bricks are too loose and some are tight. For the cost, I think it's worth it. It's a fun build. The instruction booklets are easy to follow. I recommend this set!

The Pirate Tavern showed up in a much bigger box than I expected...when I ordered this I was expecting a small set. I knew it was tall but seeing the finished build was pretty impressive. The weight alone tells you the bricks are sturdy and molded well. Every connection felt tight and I never worried about sections flexing when I moved it from the table to the shelf. The booklet runs long yet the pictures are bright and easy to follow. I slowed down on a few crowded steps and had zero trouble lining everything up. Three evenings later the tavern stood firm, complete with the giant rum.The modular floors lift off cleanly so you can poke around. Four pirates are included and their printed torsos match the gritty vibe of the wreck. My favorite touch is the weather-beaten sail piece that wraps around the roof and ties the colors together.Friends keep asking where I bought it and are surprised it isn’t an official Lego kit.If you want a project that feels like adult Lego therapy and leaves you with a showpiece, this set checks the boxes.

I have a HUGE fan of Pantasy brick sets and have over a dozen of them. I ordered the Pirate Tavern because of how unique it looked. The set comes in a VERY large box that contains two manuals and bags of bricks numbered from 1-14. The bricks are all Lego compatible and snap together easily. The manual is easy to follow but you will need to pay attention so that you make sure parts go in the right spot as sometimes it can be hard to tell if you are flipping the assembly or not. It doesn't happen often, but you want to make sure not to have to go back! There is a single sticker and a small, cardboard sail. The end model is a VERY large display piece. There are a LOT of details in it....vines, tables with food and drink and lots and lots more. The two skulls made of different bricks (they use croissant bricks for one of the faces!!) are a great touch. It is a really nice and interesting looking set. Just be aware that it is almost two feet tall and almost a foot and a half wide and deep! I really love the giant bottle of rum that is running over and that the bar is made up of a pirate ship. There are a few negatives. The first is that there are some sensitive spots that, if you aren't careful, can pop loose while you add other assemblies to the structure. Things like the boat mounted to the base plates by a single, 4 stud square brick, the dock that is one brick short of touching the base, while minor, can be annoying when they pop loose. The biggest issue I have though is a bit of a major structural problem. The front end of the ship sticks out but is completely unsupported on one side making it very wobbly. I found it out the hard way when I went to attach one of the figures that come with it! Speaking of the minifigs, I think that the four that come with it don't really fit the look of the build as they are more childish/cartoony looking. Standard pirate minifigs would have been better additions.Overall, this is a VERY cool looking set. It is a fun build with a LOT of details and VERY large! At $150 (with a $10 coupon also available at the time of this review), I think it is fairly priced considering you are getting over 2800 bricks in the set.

Lego is expensive, but it has a precision that the knock-offs haven't quite mastered. This is a big set, but because some of the pieces were really hard to get together, there was some frustration in the building process and it took longer than a comparable Lego set would have take. The set is cool, but I think there could have been more creativity going into the insides of the ship and buildings. The little figures are kind of embarrassing... not at all like minifigures, and they look very "little kid" like, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense when it's an advanced builder's set and has a bottle of rum as part of it.Overall, it is a fun set, just not to Lego standards.

This was a free product. However, I have no incentive to be biased towards or against this product.Out of the gate, I want to mention just how big this Pantasy Pirate Tavern Building Set box really is. It is 13 inches tall, nearly 17 inches wide, and about 7 inches deep. I say all of this because I really had very low expectations of it. I am happy to admit that I was proven wrong. There's over 2800 very well made building pieces. The instructions are easy to follow. The characters are cute and add life to the pirate tavern. The pieces fit together really well.I highly recommend this for kids who are four years old or older. I definitely recommend this to any adult who's kid in them still wants to build with building sets. The only caveat is that be prepared to work on this for at least 3 hours. I would not be surprised if it didn't take at least 5 hours. However, for those of us who love things like this, time is not an issue.
