Pferd are a quality manufacturer for files, I always buy them and always very happy with them. Not the cheapest but one of the best. Buy cheap buy twice.

I specifically purchased this file because a Pferd customer service rep told me these files were manufactured in Germany. Since Nicholson now makes their files in Mexico, I thought Pferd would be a good quality alternative. Hopefully what I received was a fluke (see attached picture). After opening the box, I found a file loosely contained in a messy heat sealed bag. The file (supposedly new) has rust on it. The Pferd logo is poorly printed and difficult to read. The file is also warped/bent, with the tip lifting up about 0.04" when I placed it on a granite surface plate. Compared to a 8 year old USA made Nicholson file I regularly use which maybe rocks 0.005" on the same plate.At least the file seems like it's hard, but I will be returning it regardless.
