Traditional filter cannot be used for fry. This works well. Six months later I still use it in conjunction with a normal filter for my growing goldfish.

Cute size where it’s not so easily spotted in my planted aquarium. It seems to be doing the job. Easy to setup. Temporarily tries to float but make sure you squeeze it a bit underwater to remove extra air from the sponge.

It doesn't make much noise once you fit in an air stone which wasn't /easy/ to do but totally doable. The suction and capability of this filter all depends on your air pump. It's a good value, I had all the tubing and necessities already and definitely didn't need more when I just wanted the bare bones sponge filter and this delivered. The bottom is weighted enough it doesn't float. Appearance wise, it's taller than it is wider so for flashier fish tanks you'll have to have taller decor to hide it behind. Great filter overall. I use sand in this tank and the fine mesh was nice to clear up cloudiness

It's so cute and skinny thay I can easily hide it behind some of my longer plants and it does it's job so well. My tank is still so clean after even the whole month. When I had to do my water change for the month, it was still so clean! Great performance and such an easy install. Not too much noise either but that's mostly on the pump.

Smaller than I was expecting but that's OK because it's easier to hide with decor. I brought this as I used to have sponge filters in my tank but I upgraded to a tank with a built in filter amd it's the noisiest thing ever so decided to go back to what I know as its in my room. Best decision ever I think these filters work so well and are perfect if you have fry. Easy maintenance amd so simple but effective. I dont think I'll ever go back to a standard filter.

It is smaller than I expected from the description, I could have paid better attention. It requires a narrow airstone to fit into the tube. the airstone advertised on the same page did not fit.

It was super easy to set up and it works perfectly I did get 2 different shapes but it didn't change much of how it worked and it didn't bother me much it's just used as a back up filter for my 10 gal

I am happy with this filter; don't get me wrong. But it tells people that it's good for up to a 30-gallon. I don't agree, unless you have a densely planted (and I mean LIVE plants) 30-gallon aquarium with, like, ten neon tetras.Yes, I think it's worth five stars, but only if you use it appropriately. I'm breeding pseudomugil signifiers in a 20-high. I don't want a lot of water flow. And I only have two fish in there. This filter is all I need or want.Otherwise, if this is the only filter you are going to use, I would not use it for a community tank that is any larger than 10-gallons. I'd use it in a twenty-gallon community in combination with another type of filter like a HOB filter to boost the biological filtration that many HOB filters lack. But I'd never use this on anything larger than a 10, except under conditions as I stated prior. Look how small it is in my 20! And yes, it will take up a lot of space in a 10-gallon, but sponge filters are typically bulky and an eye sore. They're old fashioned, but one of the best biological filters.
