I never use the included carbon filters in my aquarium filters unless I have treated the tank and want to remove a treatment chemical. Otherwise, I only use filter media sheets such as these or filter floss in order to encourage the maintaining of beneficial bacteria. This set of media is excellent quality that holds up to washing/rinsing out and being reused. The media sheets are super easy to cut to size for my different sized filters on my tanks and they do an awesome job of trapping debris in the water. I appreciate that this set includes three different kinds of sponge density (coarse, medium, and fine) so I can use change the filtration amount depending on my needs. Note that these filter sheets come vacuum packed and will increase in thickness after opening by quite a lot! I have a ton of live plants in my aquariums and these filter sheets have done an excellent job of helping my water stay clean and clear. Highly recommended!
