I ordered this hat because my husband purchased one locally. When I received the hat it was waded up in a ball and totally out of shape. I cannot make it work. The hat is great, but Amazon shipping was terrible. Returning the product that I really wanted

Living on Oregon coast, we get a lot of rain. I needed a hat that is 100% waterproof because I am a volunteer Search and Rescue member and we get called out in all weather conditions. This hat is surprisingly warm and comfortable. It does flop in the wind a bit but that's to be expected with a soft hat. I would recommend this hat.

i Was excited to get a great hat from a great company that would serve as both a sun hat and waterproof rain hat. When it arrived I immediately put it on and the fit was great after expanding the Velcro straps. Then I folded the rain shield and stored it as directed. The hat was then way too tight to wear at the largest setting. I was disappointed and sad because I really like the hat and it was stylish. Maybe their design people could look at the cover coming off totally and folded on the ito a pocket on the inside of the crown top. I only gave four stars due to that. Some with a smaller head in that size range may be able to use it as is.

Looks great on my husband . Packs well, makes an excellent sun hat because it has mesh vents and when the vents are covered by rolling back the fabric - it's waterproof.

I've only had Tilly hats untill now, this us my first OR. Love it. A little stiffer than a Tilly. The brim is wider, so it blocks noticeably more sun. I used the sizing chart at the site, then ordered the next size up per a reviewer's suggestion. Perfect. I got the XL size and it was a little loose until I put the rain guard inside, then it fit perfectly. When colder or rainy and when I use the rain guard, I can tighten the size using the velcro tabs. I cut about 3/4 inch off each velcro tab, then I could pull it tighter. Very pleased with this purchase.Doug Linn, Hilton Head, SC

Great hat! Fit perfectly. I read the previous reviews and knew what to buy based on other comments. This hat was exactly what I needed while hiking in the Andes in Peru and on the Galapagos Islands.

So far, this has been a fantastic hat. Used most of the summer for hiking and general wear around town. I have kept the "rain cover" folded away so that the hat could vent, and even in 100 degree heat my heat hasn't gotten too hot. I haven't been in a good rainstorm yet to test it as a rain hat, but if it is anything close to everything else from OR that I have used, it will work fantastically there as well. I really like the adjustable band inside the hat so you can dial in a comfortable fit. Chin strap works as it should and easily cinches up behind the head, out of the way when not needed. The only problem I have with the hat is that the brim doesn't hold up to wind very well. It flops around pretty bad in anything above about 5 mph. I also don't like the wire in the brim edge, it doesn't seem to help with holding any kind of shape.EDIT: I have now had this in several rainstorms and it has served excellently, my head has stayed completely dry in a hard but short downpour and in a couple all day soakers.
