Great outdoor bed for cats. Protects against the wind and rain. I use it for the stray cat that comes around.

We have a feral cat that lives in barn in the back of our property. I bought this little house and placed it on a shelf where she’s fed. She slept in it, but we quickly realized it’s not waterproof. So the umbrella over it in the photo, is necessary. For now, she’s warm and dry. Though I may look for a waterproof one.

It's a nice bed for your outside cat but it has an awful smell and it doesn't go away. My cat took one whiff and backed up away from it and won't go near it. I left it outside for 3 days in hopes it would air out but it didn't. I brought it inside thinking it would need more time to air out and then I would put it back out and see if she would go in. It's be over a week inside and I had to put it in a plastic bag and store it in the closet because the smell was awful. The smell is something that you should take into consideration before purchasing this bed.

I feed & try to shelter 3 ferral cats. The opening was too small so I had to cut the opening larger. Well made & very cute. Very light so put a flat brick or large rock inside to keep the wind from blowing it away.

This was not fun to put together, it uses like mini tent poles to make it stand and they didn't fit in the little black nubbies that are supposed to go on end, and then the metal bar that connects the two poles doesn't fit tight, so I am surprised when bending these to go into the straps that they didn't snap and hurt me. It says it is big enough for two cats, well it's not big enough for the one stray cat that we have chillin' in our garage. Picture is next to a water bottle for scale. The cat looks like he could half fit in it, so being in the garage on a heating mat might help, but no way two adult cats could fit in here. Maybe good for some indoor kittens or a really small, young cat. I would save your money and get something different.

* * * *Update: It's now April and this thing did great! We had lots of snow, ice, rain, wind, sleet, drizzle, etc. Typical northern winter. The tent was pretty well exposed to it all, although it is in a sheltered spot up against the house. 'Buddy' alternated sleeping spots with the weather, but he loved and used the heck out of this tent. His favorite were the sunny days because the black absorbs the heat nicely. It held up super well (doesn't even look like it went through a winter, honestly.)* * * *I live where we have cold, snowy, blowing and sometimes rainy/icy winters. I spent over a year getting the feral cat to trust me and this fall, I bought a hard sided outdoor pet house for him in preparation for winter. He used it in a couple nasty storms, but he prefers to be on top of it in the open air, which wasn't the best arrangement weather-wise. So, I decided to try this thing and am thrilled with how well it's working. I bought a large because he's big (and I already knew these products all underestimate cat size) and put it on top of the existing cat house and he's in kitty nirvana. It sets up a bit like a tent which was slightly frustrating, however it's worth it. The dome shape lets rain and snow run off it and it's not sewn with any seams on top (except at the ends,) so no seeping through. The fabric is fairly heavy duty and water repellant. It's double layered and I think there is a bit of batting between, so it's slightly insulated as well. The floor pad is sewn in, which is unfortunate, but the large size is big enough to put a cat bed inside it, so I did that and I have a spare cat bed for a swap out if needed. It's been out in the snow and all-day drizzle and he's utterly happy and dry in there. I don't know how it will do in a heavy downpour, but I think it will be fair. In the drizzle, it eventually got wet around the open end, but just swapping out the cat bed I put inside it for a dry one sufficed. I do have it elevated on styrofoam so water doesn't soak in through the flooring.

I should have paid more attention to other reviews.I purchased this for 1 feral cat that has picked our home to be her home. I previously purchased a wooded cat house for her that is fantastic but I wanted a β€œsimple style” cat house that won’t take up much room for our porch since the wooded cat house takes up a lot of space.I thought this would make a decent cat house for her (she is pretty petite) and the description states big enough for 2 cats (medium size cat house) - NOT TRUE! This house is small. If I am questioning if 1 small cat will fit, how would 2 cats fit?Durability- It’s NOT durable at all. It’s NOTHING like the pictures. It’s very flimsy and won’t keeps its shape out of the package. I have it stuffed with a small blanket in hopes of shaping it (photo uploaded is AFTER the attempt of shaping it). It barely stays up with out falling over.Waterproof- it’s possible based on the material (questionable) and I won’t be testing it since I am 99% sure I will be returning it.Size- Please dont fall for it. don’t believe the number of cats that they say will fit. (Med will NOT fit multiple cats unless we are talking about kittens). It reminds me of my kids sleeping bag after you put it in the carry bag that it would come with.If this is all someone can financially afford and are trying to take care of a feral- it’s better than nothing of course. Just don’t expect anything great. Trust the reviews that mention it’s nothing as pictured and sizing is not close to being accurate.I included photos (after stuffing it to reshape) and the other cat house that I purchased from Amazon (I think I paid like 115.00 for the wooden cat house that is pretty nice in my opinion). BTW- she LOVES the wooden cat house. I am trying to provide her a decent living since it’s very clear she was dumped by someone and has a pretty rough life on the streets). I would bring her inside but my cat and her don’t seem to be soulmates.
