All hose reels of this type will decrease your water supply. I have the Aquor house hydrant and 60 psi water pressure and this hose reel with 100' hose decreases my water output exactly 50%. The 7/16" ID brass connectors on both ends probably contributes for most of the loss. I can fill to the top a 5 gal bucket in 35 seconds without reel, with 100' reel, 70 seconds. Otherwise a good product.

If you’re looking for a hose that almost wrapped around your house, this is the one.Once mounted on the wall it swings left and right allowing you to pull the hose to the desired length, the hose has strain relief on each end and the build quality of the hose and material seems to be good. Orbit is a brand name so I’m sure that it will last a long time.It is big and heavy, but then again it’s a very, very long hose.Very happy with it looking forward to many years of use

Pros:- It does a great job of auto retracting without getting kinks.-Installation is straightforward with mounting hardware included.-Hose reel pivots so that you can tuck it in close to the wall when not in use.-If you accidentally start retracting, you can "cancel" it by pulling it out more. What could be improved:- The included screws and anchors require 7/16" holes. Since I was installing mine in brick, I needed a 7/16" masonry bit. My drill bit set did not include this size, and I could not find any other sets that had this size so I had to buy this bit separately specifically for this project. If you are mounting on wood or some other surface that doesn't require a masonry bit, you might not have a problem.-The auto retracting is strong, so if you start retracting and lose your grip on the hose then it will fly back into the reel at dangerous speed. Thus I wouldn't trust a child to be able to use this.-It would have been nice if there was a manual cranking option for the hose in case the mechanism fails. All in all, I'm happy with this hose reel, and it is plenty of hose for me. I would recommend it.

Pricey but worth it. For shorter length hoses the tried and true wall mounts are fine. I have been using 100’ 5/8” hose in a decorative reel that sits on the ground for a while. I was tired of “fighting” it every time I needed more than 10-15’ of hose. I decided I wanted a retractable hose reel but it needed to have a minimum of 5/8” hose. A lot of the advertised units are 1/2” hose and I felt that would become problematic for feeding sprinklers in the backyard. Also reading the reviews for some of the units offered here and other big box stores made me want to go with a brand I knew. This led me to orbit. Installation was straightforward albeit a PITA (my install was on a brick wall). My problems were no fault of the manufacturer but rather the brick maker that developed some type tungsten brick. ( I jest, but I must need some better masonry bits). That aside, it is as simple as drilling 4 holes and using the supplied hardware for the mounting block. Then pickup the reel and place it on the mount.Where the reel meets the mounting block there is a hole cutout for using a small lock to deter theft. I chose to just slide a cotter pin in.Once installed you can hookup the leader hose to an outdoor spigot. In my case I decided to install the hose reel further away from the spigot and used my old hose to make a new leader hose to span the distance. This is where I found what may become a problem in the future. The hookup for the leader hose to the reel is just a plastic barb fitting and stainless hose clamp. This plastic will fail if any water in the line freezes. My solution will be to store it in the garage over the winter. The hose reel has a bit of resistance to it when pulling out the required length for your project. It’s not bad and could probably be adjusted but for now I will leave it as is. It is easy to set at a desired length or retract when you are ready. Just “give it a tug” and it retracts back into the reel. Keep a firm grip as the unit will pull back the hose rather quickly.I think the orbit auto-retractable reel is a great product but the drawbacks are the price point. I think it may have been one of, if not the highest priced unit like this. At that price point I would expect a sprayer to be included. Additionally I would like to have brass connections and not a plastic barb fitting for the leader hose. Overall I would purchase again. I am pleased with the product and it’s functionality.

This is my second hose like this, and this Orbit one far exceeds the design and quality of the other one, and that one is really good.Mounting is easy if you are screwing it into the wood siding on your house. The included 4 bolts will hold it firmly in place, but I do recommend some silicon caulk around the bracket edges and over the bolts to help prevent water seepage into the screw holes. Once the bracket is mounted the hose assembly just slips right in and once you attach the hose to the hose bib you are ready to go.The hoses themselves are very good quality, and the hose end attachment assemblies are really good. The part that fits onto the hose bib is big enough to fit into the palm of your hand to ensure a good solid fit. The retractor mechanism takes a couple of tries to get the hang of and reeling in the entire hose might take a couple to tries, but it is much, much better than one of those hand crank reels. The hose itself it good quality. My water company doesn't put nearly enough pressure in our feed to damage this thing, but I imagine it will easily hold up to its burst rating as listed. And if you want to go portable with it, it comes right off the wall bracket and can be carried wherever you need it with either of the 2 handles. All in all a top notch self reeling hose. It's quality made and should give you years of great service.
