Okay, so, the price is way too expensive for what it is, but the product actually works. I've used it on about 50 pods so far, from 3 different brands (Great Value, Metro, and Timothy's) and this thing has worked like a dream. The only thing I'm concerned about is longevity... I thought it would be a tool I'd keep/use for years, but according to reviews, the blades have a limited lifespan. It would explain why it comes in a 2-pack (couldn't figure it out before why I'd need 2 of these). I plan on using this as long as I can, even if that means it becomes less efficient over time. I'll report back later with updates. The ONLY complaint I have, which is a minor one, is that about 25% of the time, after cutting the pod, it's a little difficult to remove the pod and you need to wiggle it a bit. It also never 100% separates the inner teabag thing, but a quick little twist with the fingers gets it off.Keurig pods are a pretty standardized size, so the reviewers complaining about it not working are either doing something wrong or using some funky pods. And sure, it's a bit of a messy job, but if you bought this tool you care about the environment (or want to pretend to) and can deal with it!

This little tool is fantastic! It is a no fuss, quick way to recycle pods in two seconds. I love it and highly recommend it.

I like be this device. It is so much easier to use than trying to pull off the foil and remove the grounds. And it’s much less messy.

If you read the back of the package, you’ll see that one cutter is only good for about 6 weeks, which for me kind of makes using it a moot point. Throwing away the thick plastic cutter and using multiple per year probably cancels out most of the plastic saved by recycling the thin K-cups. Also, I didn’t look closely before purchasing, and was surprised to find out that this tool is designed to cut off the top portion of the plastic itself, rather than just removing the aluminum foil covers. Unfortunately, our municipality doesn’t recycle K-cups or their like. We were going to use this tool to open and empty the cups so we could compost the coffee grounds, but it takes as much or more effort to cut through the cups as it does to simply remove the aluminum covers by hand (with a knife or other utensil.)

Sometimes it rips into the filter paper depending on the brand of the Kcup pod, but most of the time works like a charm if you don’t squeeze the pod when using this. Anything to help the environment when I can’t use a reusable pod.

This works well and it is great to be able to recycle part of the coffee pod, but the devices are not able to indefinitely cut the plastic. Getting the plastic away from the top and insides gets harder and harder after a year of so. Also know that you are only recycling the plastic cup part and the rest goes in the garbage. If you can manage to self fill with the metal pods that is another choice as you will only have to throw away the used coffee and then reuse the metal pods.

Happy with how this works

Thus is one of the best ideas for recycling coffee pods, k-cup pods etc. It works perfectly for saving your grounds for compost and for recycling the plastic part. I highly recommend, it is so much easier and cleaner( and safer) using this recycler. then the way I was doing it. I would use a paring knife to cut off the top and scrape around the mesh in the pod. It wouldn't clean out the pod as good as this.

I’ve had a set before. I find that the blades always don’t cut the cup due to flexing in the plastic of the k cup . Also you have to be careful on how the cup is placed in the cutter , to make sure that it cuts below the glue line of the pod .

Tool works great for quickly extracting the organics for our compost pile. I regularly use this tool (daily) to recycle 40-cups at a time (my work saving these cups for me). With my approach, I have the recycling process down to 5 seconds per cup. Let me share further. Lots of comments were made about the recycling mess and about incomplete cutting. What has worked best to mitigate both is to put the cups in the freezer for about an hour or so. This firms up the organics so that the cup is structurally firm as it is being rotated for cutting. The stiffened K-cup provides the support for even-cutting and flawless extraction (well for the majority of time). It goes without saying, it is critical that the cup is fully seated in the tool before rotating, so that the cutting happens on the same plane. The issues raised about incomplete cup cutting is due to flexing of soft/squeezable cup - which is worse near the end of rotation (cup is flexed away from the blade). Now, with the cup removed, the nearly frozen organics(coffee/etc) & wrapper can be popped off. I use pliers to hold the rim & twist off with my right hand. The frozen paper wrapper and organics pops off into my compost bag. This makes for low mess since the majority of everything I am after this comes off at once - together as a solid unit. Overall "recycling" disassembly time is roughly 5 seconds per cup & most of this time is for removing the white cup with the tool. The mess is considerably reduced and using containers for each of the cup components keeps the clean up easy.

The unit does cut the coffee pod. But, no where did I see in the advertisement for the product that it would last 6 weeks depending upon use. The net value of the product is somewhat debateable.

Ordered a 2-pack, with some wariness after reading reviews. The possibility came through that this might be more trouble than it's worth.Almost immediately upon opening the shipping envelope, I was handily speeding through a pile of k-cups. The directions were clear and it couldn't be easier. The one thing I had to catch onto was that you must push the cut firmly into the device for a quick clean cut.The device cuts away a thin plastic ring at the top of the k-cup, taking with it the sealed coffee ground pod, so that most times it's an absolutely no-fuss, no-muss operation after you twist the cutter 180 degrees. The plastic cup comes away clean, and you pull the rest clean from the cutter and toss it (grounds secure within the foil covered pod). So, yeah, you do end up tossing the foil. For cups that have a peel away foil, you can still opt to peel it from the debris (I invariably spill grounds when I do this, though). My conscience will be fine with tossing the very thin ring of plastic and foil cover (and of course the bio-degradable grounds and mesh filter). We have two grocery bags of accumulated used k-cups that we started holding on to when our conscience got the better of ourselves and we decided we were going to seek out a recycling solution. This cutter will make short work of those bags. I pulled out 40 cups for a trial run and sped through them in about 5 minutes (handling 10 pods a minute shouldn't be a challenge). It's been ages since a simple product so far exceeded my expectations. The only question now is how long will the blades stay sharp. I'm sure the plastic dulls a sharp blade pretty quickly. Still, even if we have to replace this produce every other month (I'm hoping once every 6 mo), cleanly getting this plastic into the recycle bin makes that a small tradeoff.
