This is some funky plastic fiber stuff that squishes flat with pressure, but seems like it will create the air space advertised when you aren't on the mattress. It went in easily and they give you enough to go under a regular queen sized mattress. Just be aware that what they send you is a long roll that is not at all the right dimension. It is meant to be folded in half and cut at that half location. Then you put one half at the top of the mattress, the other half at the bottom of the mattress. It took me a while to figure this out as there were no instructions. If you do it this way, it fits the 60" wide by 80" long queen just right.
