A little tight to fill in the notebooks?
Please be noted that: For the first time to insert the 3 x 5 inch top bound spiral notebooks, it may be a little tight, because the leather journal cover is stitched tight.
What you should do is to put your fingers in to prop up the pocket, and it will be easier to fill in!
Please Note: This distressed looking leather might be scratched and marked, however these are not permanent. Overtime the marks will disappear with use. If it's a light scratch, you can just rub it slightly to remove the scratch or add a small amount of leather oil to the area and rub in a circular motion.

Holds my gel pen and field notes perfectly! I can also hold a few note cards in the left slot. Saved me in meetings where I moved around from building to building and didnt want a bilky notebook or planner.

Great for EDC. Purchase a Zebra F-701 Pen, and a 3x5 Waterproof Top Spiral Pad and you are set. The Zebra pen is a sturdy alternative to the obvious "tactical" pens that may not pass a TSA inspection.

I wanted something that was able to fit in my cargo pants pocket and hold a pen. It's a perfect size (not too small, and not too big or bulky). Great little convenience to have when taking short notes. My only suggestion is that they should have the color black as an option.

Love this little leather tablet holder, soft, beautiful color. I got it for my grocery lists, put a small tablet in and keep it on my table to write lists. When folded, fits perfectly in my small bag, holds cards or coupons. Comes in sa cute little bag with a postcard..charming! Love it

I have been looking for a small notebook cover for a long time, and I have purchased too many that I regretted buying. This one is excellent. It is wearing well so far, especially considering it is tucked into my back pocket for 8+ hours every day.The pen is a Rite in the Rain All-Weather EDC Pen, Flat Dark Earth Pokka 2-Pack, Black 0.8mm Ink, Fine Point (No. FDE92). As pictured, it fits in the notebook and my back pocket much better than a full-length pen or pencil. It easily converts into a regular-length pen when you need to write.The side pocket is large enough for a mini notebook, receipts, etc.The stitching is durable and attractive.

This fits the classic small note pad. I used a rite in the rain pad, as advertised but regular ones work as well. Personally I sweat too much to use the normal ones. As stated in my headline I am impressed by the thickness of the leather, for its use it should provide a lifetime of service. Another review complained about the finish, but as I see it this is meant to be a working item not a fashion accessory, this is the standard finish for tool pouches, sheaths, saddles and the like. If you are expecting a glossy dress belt finish you'll not find it. Personally I think it is easy enough to add one, repeated application of boot polish would do the trick.

The build quality is very good but the design will never work for me. I didn't realize until I had it in my hand just how awkward the design is. First off, the pen holder is on the left side, even though it opens from the rights, it is just very odd to use. The leather pen loop also grips pens so they're a pain to get in and out. And all of the extra leather on the spine makes it so you have this big floppy flap to hold back whenever you use it. This cover feels HUGE. I use a 3x5 notepad because it fits conveniently into most pockets, but this cover adds too much extra size. Everything just feels like a misfire here. Some people might like it, but if I could have picked it up in a store, I would have known immediately that this is not a product for me.

Good design and construction should last 10+ years. Beware if you want to fit in shirt pocket. Would work fine in suit pockets.
