I have a new GX 550 and have been interested in looking for useful accessories for it. When I saw this product, it looked like it had some good benefits and features and might be useful. I certainly don’t want rusty bolts.I didn’t think to look at the hinges of my car before ordering this. Once I popped my trunk and looked at the hinges they are painted black as well as the bolts just like the body of my car is. They sure look pretty rustproof already to me and don’t look like they need anything added to themYou may not notice from the pictures, but once you put these pieces of plastic over the bolts, they are not exactly a 100% seal to the body so when it gets wet water will likely get inside of these plastic parts and could sit there instead of properly draining like they’re supposed to. I would imagine water sitting inside of this plastic between the plastic and the metal bolts of the car could overtime corrode even though it’s pretty well coated from the factory. So I would much rather not have a cover on it so the water can just dry naturally.I could see a use for this if you had, for example, already rusted or corroded hinges, and want to cover them and make it look nice. But these are marketed for new cars like the 24 and 25 GX. Nobody has rust yet and I’m thinking likely never will without these parts.
