  • Precision Double Filtration: hygger sponge filter consists of a circular bio cotton and a chamber base with bio ceramic ball that provide both mechanical and biological filtration for your aquarium, which is suitable for low flow breeding like betta, guppy, shrimp, snail, and fish fry, turtle tank; Or as a pre-filter for other filtration systems
  • Working Principle: This air-driven sponge filter is powered by an air pump that uses the water-lifting effect generated by rising bubbles and drives water flow through filter sponge, which can effectively adsorb excreta and residual bait to achieve the purpose of filtering and purifying water quality
  • Filtration: biochemical cotton has a high-density pores structure, which can more easily catch impurities and particles in water. Culture: the filter chamber is equipped with bio ceramic balls that help break down waste and cultivate beneficial stuff. Oxygenation: built-in a small bubble stone at the bottom can effectively increase the dissolved oxygen content in the water and generate a lot of bubbles
  • Use and Maintain: 1. Our fish foam filter includes two sponges that take the spare sponge off and stay the other on filter before use. 2. Filter container is easy to detachable and can be freely replaced with any other filter media as needed. 3. Hook the filter up to air pump, and squeeze the sponge until it is full of water making it sink to the bottom of the tank. 4. The sponge should be washed approximately every 2-4 weeks (use tank water rinse) to ensure the filter works properly
  • Three Size For Choice; Small: 2.9"W x 4.1"H, it works pretty well filtration for 5 to 20-gallon small aquariums with under 14” depth. Medium: 2.9"W x 6"H, suggested for 20 to 55-gallon medium-sized aquariums with under 19.7” depth. Large: 3.9"W x 6.4"H, suggested for 55 to 125-gallon aquariums with under 26.4” depth

A few things. Getting it to sink to the bottom is really frustrating. Being air driven and mostly sponge, the design does not lend itself to easy peasy. The air stone at the bottom center of fixture has a tenuous connection at best, comes off its seating with little pressure, such as while you are connecting other parts together. Please note, I am a Hygger fan and all instructions were followed, still a bear to keep all pieces assembled until it's in the water. Note also as is described there is no air tubing or pump. Some similar sponge filters include everything but you must provide with this unit. It is NOT simple or easy (messy) to disassemble for cleaning bio balls media/sponge media. Poorly designed for user consideration, Hygger should revisit and update especially connection points; make them easy to get together and apart (no prying!) and better secure places that come apart when that's not wanted. You could make this an awesome go-to filter with a few modifications.

This works great. Seems to be holding up well. It comes with a extra sponge fliter that is smashed on the core of it with the other sping filter. Just take it off & it regains its shape. It comes with filter media but if you don't like it you can remove or it changed.Seems worth the money.

So far I am dissapointed. Looks like a knock off not a real hygger product.

This sponge filter works well. I love the extra media, and I was going to love the built in air stone. The bubbles are larger than I like for my tanks, honestly doesn’t even seem like there’s an air stone in there. I’ll probably just add one. Also it floats a lot when you first put it in. The picture of it floating is after it had been running in the tank for a full day. I’ve had to squeeze the air out of it 4 times, it’s only the second day so I might have to more idk. We will see. I have had better sponge filters, but I’ll give this one a chance. Cleans the tank up well

I love this sponge filter, n my fish does too lol The way it pulls waste to it, on it, n even under it, is crazy. It was not untill I had this filter where I realized exactly how much one oscar can poop....n its a lot lol I have be buying Hygger products for a while, n I did not even realize this was one of them lol I also have a wave simulator, n heater. I now stand by them:). The one thing I don't like is how difficult it is to connect the air hose, but it definitely does its job, n give off the most air bubbles of any sponge filter I seen. N it comes with an extra sponge. Definitely worth the price.

I love this brand and liked the way these looked. Silly me, I should have known better. The tubes on the other sponge filters are needed to strengthen the pull of water through the filter. This looks more contemporary, but at the cost of effectiveness. Also, it kept popping apart in places that were difficult to get to to reconnect everything. Extremely frustrating design, not well made, not designed by someone who is actually using these. They’re awful. I spent $20 on these and I could kick myself. They are in the trash now. I only kept the small media material, that’s it. Stay away from these.
