Had this for about a year or so now. Setup is easy and there are some decent software tools to help get it calibrated right. Ink holds out for a while and there are plenty of options as far as refillable cartridges. This equals much less money spent on ink. It has performed without much issue. Only problems we've had are some of the 8.5x11 pages we printed would get torn or marred when pulling through, especially on lighter/thinner stock. This seems to be less of an issue now after a lot of use. Just make sure your pages are ruffled/aired/flared about before setting in the tray. And be certain you have the stacks as snug as possible. Switching between roll and tray feed is very quick and easy. Calibration is OK, however for color, it spends an awful lot of time calibrating for prints that are less than stellar. We typically use this machine for quick labels, flyers, salesheets, or other marketing items that we don't want to spend a lot of money on as well as technical drawings (works great as a plotter and party sign maker). However, I would not recommend this unit if you are looking to make some serious large format prints. For instance, you wouldn't see this in a design or art studio unless they were simply using it to make a quick test print. The quality just isn't great, even on the "Best" setting. Fortunately we haven't had hardware problems but I would recommend spending the extra cash and getting a more premium printer.

Purchased 40 days ago to replace my 7 year old HP 110nr. Working great so far. Beware this did not come with a roll a stand. It appears that if you purchase directly from HP you will get a stand included. My old hp110nr roll around stand however did fit this perfectly and I was able to use my old roll paper insert as well as an additional paper holder. I do recomend this plotter for small buisnesses that don't plot a lot but need this for convenience. Print quailty is good just not very fast but works well for us.

We have printed roll after roll on the 130R, and it hasn't skipped a beat yet. No complaints here. The quality of the print is great. We use the machine to print all sorts of posters and different things. The cutter works well and we haven't had a single clog or issue with the print nozzles. Though what is neat is the each color has it's own easily changeable print head, and they are cheap too. So if you have a print head clog, just swap out that color and go on with your day.

All my printhead except the black printhead clogged after purchasing it for the first one month. But the printer has been great and have been using it since March 2011.Great printer for its price.

Received our second 130 a few weeks ago and it's working great just like our 4+ year old 130nr, no problems with either. We printed 88 D size prints for a project in one day without a single hiccup.

this is my third large format printer and by far the easiest to use. great looking prints. I do not even bother making copies anymore i just print more. the only problem is you have to unroll the roll feed to use the other formats. it is really too much trouble and i just use the roll feed all the time. at this price it is super affordable. and sits on the desk just fine.

The HP designjet 130 (nr or not) is pure TROUBLE, I hope this review will save anyone the trouble and money I wasted on this unit and if so this is worth telling. After buying this unit I had multiple problems with paper loading (rolls & regular sizes), settings and endless trouble with the downloadable trouble shooting / maintenance tool utility.Don't let the HP people fool you as they did me, this unit CANNOT be repaired if anything breaks, please search the web for the horror stories verifying this, it is purely a DISPOSABLE printer.Literally you use it, when it allows you to, until something goes wrong and then throw it away - it can not be fixed by anyone including HP, God knows I tried for over two years now and it is futile.Google it and see for yourself the trouble people have had with this unit, when it worked it was okay but only okay, setting it up is a nightmare waiting to attack you when you least expect it.The utilities software supplied by HP were mainly non functional and the service people from India cant' do much about it either, after hours on top of hours working with people that I could hardly understand they too gave up on this and declared it to be unfixable. I am still waiting for one of them to call me back after saying they needed to investigate the problem further... (and will call me back - hahaha). The system will not even allow you to uninstall the maintenance feature to re-install it, it is plainly locked out of any control. I even hired an online professional computer repair company to try to fix or uninstall the maintenance toolbox and it can't be done.In order to clear the data from this printer you must wipe your entire hard drive clean of any traces of HP software - furthermore the newest HP software likes to take control of your computer by constantly updating and scanning you machine.Hey I don't know about you but I think a printer should do just that - PRINT ..., not control my computer and scan and rescan for updates and controls - thanks HP but no thanks.Take a lesson from me, I learned the hard and expensive way that this printer will disappoint you with multiple break-downs and HP is either unwilling to or unable to help with the service they claim to provide. But what about the Guarantee...??? Well from what has happened to me the guarantee is there will be trouble down the road and your chances of resolving the trouble are slim to none.Sorry HP, you had it coming - after literally years of endless efforts to resolve problems with NO satisfaction it's finally time to tell it the way it is.Folks, save your money and save yourself the aggravation, the designjet 130 or 130r or 130nr, is one unit to stay far away from. Anyone giving this unit a 5 star rating has simply not had it long enough, time will tell - trust me on this - it will break and you will find out it can not be fixed.(It is my understanding the "nr" or "r" or lack of the suffix only indicates it has or has no automatic paper cutter attached inside of it, that option actually worked okay when it worked.)Huh, maybe it means Non Repairable...Anyone looking for a slightly used printer before I use it for target practice?

I had been looking for an easy to use, economical large format printer, this printer fills that job well. It arrived quickly and was brand new as described. It was easy to setup and start printing. I use to for large format posters and fills that need. I recommend this printer for other photographers and for anyone who needs a good large format printer (prints to 24"x whatever you want).
