The most valuable part of this guide was the map that came with it. Even though the trail is well marked for the most part, the map was invaluable for its topo, campsite location, and water source details. There were stretches where we didn’t run into water for half a day, or we weren’t sure how much mileage we’d cover before we were ready to camp but we were able to plan and adjust accordingly thanks to the map.The guidebook has interesting history and wildlife/plant life information. Definitely worth a read before you take off. It also contains extremely detailed info on navigating the trail. If you are at all concerned about getting lost, it’s worth bringing.

Shipping was fast, and the map and book came packaged very securely. Great guide book. If you are going to hike this trail, don't hesitate to get this.

Great size and lots of information about the west rim trail. The only bad thing is the map would have a hard time surviving a hiking trip. The map paper is not very durable or coated very well but helps you plan very well.

Same company that publishes this also does hiker shuttles, they know their stuff as this trail is a large portion of pine creek outfitters business.

Guide was very good and easy to use. The map was very useful as well. Only wish and the 1 thing I would change is I wish some of the side trails were marked on the map.

Bought this guide in preparation for a 3-day hike on the WRT. The guide and its map were extremely useful and gave pretty accurate locations of the trail, major landmarks, water and camp sites. The guide book itself contains background information on the trail/area and then walks through notable points on the 30 mile trail. The format it uses is to start North to South, give a mile/km mark and then a short description. The guide then repeats and gives the same info from a South to North perspective.A few things that keep it from a 5 star rating:-Very limited description of the camp sites themselves. For me at least this is one of the most important things.- Found a few spots where the trail crossed park roads and the resumption of the trail on the other side was not immediately apparent. These spots would seem to be some of the things you would want most in the guide but they were not items that were highlighted.- Highlighted trail descriptions in the guide book are not indicated on the map.
