Looking for a gift for Father's Day? Look no further! This is a guided journal designed to help fathers capture their life stories. It packs over 100 thoughtful questions and prompts, encouraging dads to delve into their childhood, family traditions, life lessons, and accomplishments. The goal is to create a family heirloom, a tangible record for generations to come. The journal itself is a hardcover and it's crafted with high-quality paper and 70 guided pages in a convenient 6x9-inch size. This makes it easy to fill out and ensures it stands the test of time. The cover, the best of the three variants, is embossed beautifully. Now one thing to note is that this is not a simple journal. It asks pointed, personal questions, and some of it requires research. The "Year You Were Born" chapter asks popular songs, sport teams, world population, the prices of items (bread, milk, coffee, eggs, gas). I mean, this is not simple stuff, and if you have a dad who rolls his eyes once something gets aggravating this section alone will make him reconsider filling it out. You can get this info with a simple search, but it feels more like homework -- and frankly why are we asking dad to write this stuff? There's also things like asking for your dad's parents' birth place, height (but not weight, thank goodness), same for grandparents, siblings, and children. It's a lot, and most dads are probably not going to put in all this effort. It's also padded. Pages 90 to 140 are space for photos, which are not going to fit easily into a hardcover book like this which isn't large enough to accommodate more than two and maybe not even that (also, who prints out photos anymore). Then there's the notes, THIRTY PAGES OF THEM. That's just blank lined paper.Add all this up and this is one of thoes gifts that makes you feel good giving it, but I'll be curious how many dads fill it out. Best to do it as a family project by filling out a lot of the pages for older dads first, and then let them fill in the blanks. A lovely gift, but not a particularly practical one.

We've been trying to convince my dad to write his life story down because he's had many interesting life events. However, he tends to just say "Well, what do you want to know?". It's hard to know where to begin. This journal gives some starting prompts to get him started. Not only that, but it'll be a handwriting sample also. The quality of the cover, binding, and pages is outstanding. The table of contents is in the back, which was a little odd, but whatever. Hopefully he'll use it!

This journal is a thoughtful and beautifully designed gift that helped open up new conversations with my father-in-law, who has recently become less mobile and spends more time at home. The clothbound hardcover with navy and gold detailing looks even better in person—elegant and inviting. Inside, the pages are well-structured with a variety of prompts, from life story questions and family tree sections to open pages for photos and free writing. It allows the writer to reflect meaningfully while creating something deeply personal for future generations to appreciate. The occasional inclusion of quotes or phrases about fatherhood adds an engaging and inspiring touch. This book is not only a keepsake but a bridge between generations.

Love the hardcover. The content is perfectly detailed with lots of prompts. This is a great gift. I'd say it's medium size. I was nervous that it was going to be a little pocket book, but it's not. This is an excellent gift. Use this as a greeting card by putting a little message in it
