The tailgate latch actuator on my 2020 F150 Lariat started failing intermittently about six months ago. I had to press the release button three or four times before it would actually open. The actuator made noise but wasn’t strong enough to unlatch the tailgate. The new actuator fit perfectly and was easy to install—took me about 15 minutes. I think anyone with basic mechanical skills can handle the installation. It’s been working flawlessly for a week now.

I have a 2017 Ford F150 Lariat with a power tailgate, and recently, it became really weak and wouldn’t open. This replacement was a perfect fit and took just seconds to install. Here’s a helpful tip: I initially still had some “stickiness,” where I had to press in gently or hit the remote button multiple times. A few sprays of PB Blaster into the latch mechanism solved the issue, and now it works flawlessly. It delivers a solid *cachunk* sound and fires with plenty of power. Plus, the updated part includes added water protection, which is a nice bonus.
