I was having issues with my gen 2-2i4 after upgrading my pc hardware and OS to windows 11. It would randomly and frequently stop working during studio workflow and gaming. After a week of troubleshooting, I concluded it was that the USB was unable to provide adequate power to the 2i4 and it would stop working. Whether this was a windows issue, or a usb driver issue, I wasn't sure. But I was certain it was a power delivery issue via the usb.I am a fan of the focusrite scarlett line of AD interfaces for the values they provide for the home studio musician and the podcaster/streamer.I did some research to find that the 4i4 4th gen comes with an external power supply for the unit, so I decided to buy it to see if it corrected the issue.The long and short of it... it did.I've been using the 4i4 for a week and haven't had a single issue.I use this unit for tracking my audio ideas at home to present at my pro studio. For what this unit offers, it's an extremely good value for your dollar. The converters sound excellent. Apparently theyre the same converters used in the focusrite rednet line, which is actually crazy. The addition of the "air", "drive" and "auto" feature is excellent. The "safe" feature is kind of useless unless you plan on recording during a bombing of your town or city.I'm hoping to get another 7 years out of this AD converter like I did with the 2nd gen 2i4. Props to focusrite for providing such an excellent product at such a reasonable price.

I have an new ipad pro m4 but scarlett 4i4 only fully supported on windows or mac for the 4i4 model.I could install control panel on old Windows 10 Dell to do driver updates but free DAW wouldn’t install because of pre reqs.

I started out with the new 4th gen 2 input one. But had it for just one day before I realized I needed the larger one. Initially I figured I wouldn't mind just swapping out inputs for things, but I also realized I preferred a single one to include the single MIDI input I had from a full sized piano.Only downside is that the people who reviewed these new 4th gen Scarlett devices said you really need a headphone with high impedance. So that limited my options for headphones, but I found a set that works fine.Love the clarity and ease. NO issues with my condenser mike, MIDI, etc. Separate controls for studio monitors and headphones is nice. Love the input options.

I really liked the easy process of getting the software and driver installed, registering the product, really everything was just quick and seamless. Very impressive. (Windows 11)And the interface itself was really easy to get up to speed. Probably because I've been using an interface for a long time, that helps. My previous interface was an old Line 6 UX2, which I never had any issues with. But this Scarlett 4i4 is superior for sure.Number of inputs: Since I have 5 separate XLR cables coming from various amps, Torpedo Captor X, etc, I really wanted to have at least 5 XLR inputs. But that was just going to be too expensive and not really necessary. I ended up getting a mixer with 6 XLR inputs, then it has 2 balanced outputs to the Scarlett 4i4. This is working awesome for me. I can't believe I put up with juggling XLR connections for so long. This set up is amazing.

Excellent. Apparently record more than 2 instruments at a time. Good for my gaming/music set-up. Power stays on even when computer is off. Can't change the power setting in BIOS for that USB-C port for some reason. Used a on desk USB hub to control power when not in use. Discord doesn't notice it's plugged in sometimes. Handsome. Small. Sturdy. Cable is short. Light gain control and monitor is great.

I have a 3rd gen 4i4 and was looking for an upgrade. It is a significant upgrade to sound volume/amps on the headphone jack and I like the extra air setting and extra auto and safe functions. Makes it easy to get setup and have fun. I was surprised the audio quality from my guitar through my pedal board and vocals via a shure condenser mic seemed just a little better. Same latency between 3rd and 4th gen’s through ableton live 12

excellent sound but annoying that it doesn't have an off switch - it stays warm all the time which would indicate it's constantly supping juice even the PC is off.Had some initial hum on only channels 1/2 but not 3/4 which took me a while to work out - turns out my zigbee router stick being plugged in next to the power supply was a bad move. moved the router a mnter. problem solved.

Einleitend möchte ich festhalten, dass ich mit dem Kauf sehr zufrieden bin. Mit dem Interface macht man nichts falsch und es kommt in einer sehr guten Qualität daher. Ich habe mich für das Scarlet 4i4 entschieden, da es die erste Version mit Midi-Anschlüssen ist, die ich brauche. Für den Preis ein sehr gutes Interface, und ich habe auch in keiner meiner Situationen (Online Meeting, Audio Recording) Probleme damit. Aber in folgenden Zeilen mehr.----------------------------------Einsatzgebiet----------------------------------Ich verwende das Interface sowohl für regelmäßige Video-Calls im Home-Office, und das mehrmals die Woche, aber auch für Audio-Recording von Klavier, Midi aber auch mit einem Avantone CV-12.Das Interface ist bei mir über einen USB-Switch am PC angeschlossen, wo ich zwischen Firmen-Notebook und Privat-Computer switchen kann. Auch das funktioniert ohne Probleme.Für meinen primären Einsatzzweck, wie oben genannt, verwende ich einen Windows-Computer. Für das Büro ein Notebook mit Ubuntu 22.04.----------------------------------Optik & Ersteindruck----------------------------------Ich hatte bereits vor vielen Jahren ein Focusrite Saffire Interface und ich weiß wozu Focusrite auch im günstigeren Segment in der Lage ist. Aber obwohl dieses deutlich kleiner ist als mein altes 19-Zoll Interface, ist es subjektiv nochmal besser. Gut, es liegen auch einige Jahre dazwischen, aber dennoch kostet es die Hälfte von meinem alten Interface.Die Qualität ist sehr hochwertig, das rote Gehäuse macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck und die mattschwarze Front- und Rückseite rundet das Design ab. Die Beleuchtung ist auch hervorragend und sticht auch in hellen Räumen super hervor, sodass sich die Labels, die ebenfalls beleuchtet sind, jederzeit problemlos ablesen lassen.----------------------------------Anschlüsse----------------------------------1x USB-C für Stromanschluss (optional)1x USB-C für PC-Anschluss. Das Interface verwendet aber nur USB 2.0. Zuerst habe ich das Interface am Strom angeschlossen, anschließend am Windows-PC (Windows 11 in der zum Zeitpunkt der Rezension aktuellen Version).Sofort poppt, wie ein USB-Stick, den man in den PC steckt, ein Fenster auf mit einem Link auf eine Website. Diese führt einen Schritt für Schritt durch den Installationsprozess. Obwohl ich in der IT Arbeite finde ich gerade diese Einführung sehr gut für die breite Masse geeignet, da nahezu keine tiefergehenden IT-Kenntnisse notwendig sind, um das Interface in Betrieb zu nehmen.Es wird auch ausführlich beschrieben, wie die Schritte durchzuführen sind. Teilweise sogar mit Videos gestützt. Abschließend leitet die Anleitung auf eine Seite weiter, wo man die Software-Bundles downloaden kann. Auch das ist hervorragend beschrieben.Kaum installiert wurde das Interface sofort von Windows erkannt und verwendet. Meine DAW, in dem Fall Pro Tools, hat außerdem nachdem Umstellen des Audiogeräts, mit dem Interface harmoniert und synchronisiert die Settings.----------------------------------Software----------------------------------In diesem Punkt beziehe ich mich primär auf die, für den Betrieb notwendige Focusrite Control 2. Die Software wird im Rahmen der Inbetriebnahme installiert und ist quasi die Schaltzentrale. Einstellungen, die am Interface direkt vorgenommen werden können, können auch in der Software angepasst werden.Ich kann darüber nicht nur meine Inputs steuern, sondern auch bis zu drei Mixes erstellen, die ich an unterschiedliche Ziele schicke. Zum Beispiel: Mix A -> Kopfhöhrer, Mix B -> Primäre Lautsprecher, Mix C -> Sekundäre Lautsprecher.Die mitgelieferte Software ist natürlich Geschmackssache. Sowohl Ableton Live Lite wie auch Pro Tools Artists ist eine Möglichkeit in beide Produkte reinzuschnuppern. Gerade Pro Tools ist doch ein bekannter Name in der Branche und wird besonders Übersee für viele Produktionen genutzt und kann als Artists Version, Stand heute, für rund € 10,-- pro Monat abonniert werden. Drei Monate sind im Kauf vom Interface enthalten.Die Plugins sind ebenfalls gut zu gebrauchen, und wer kein Geld für Premium Plugins ausgeben will, der bekommt ein gutes Starter-Set zumal bei beiden Programmen (Ableton und Pro Tools) ebenfalls noch Plugins dabei sind.Lediglich ein Manko, aber da weiß ich nicht ob es nicht schon alternative Wege mit einer Software-Lizenz gibt, für manche Software-Installationen braucht man einen iLok Account, und meistens bedeutet dies auch, dass man dafür einen iLok Dongle braucht. Aber letzteres muss nicht zwingend stimmen, da ich diesen bereits hatte und verwende.----------------------------------Fazit----------------------------------Für das Geld kann man mit dem Interface nichts falsch machen. Falls ihr ein verlässliches Interface sucht, das alle Stücke spielt, und euch die Anschlussmöglichkeiten reichen, dann seid ihr hier goldrichtig.Tipp: Wenn ihr kein Audio Recording betreibt, und ihr somit auf die neueste Generation der Vorverstärker verzichten könnt, schaut euch dasselbe Interface in der 3. Generation an. Das kostet 1/3 weniger, wartet dafür zusätzlich aber mit Klavierlack an der Front auf.
