I received the pump in a clearly damaged condition. The box was fine so there must be a quality control issue. I'm attaching only one pic but there were multiple spots that look like this pump got dropped. Maybe it was previously returned and shipped back out.

Classic universal eheim pump. Somewhat big for the amount of water pumped, but this was designed before most of the compact current pumps and this pump will outlast most aquarists interest in fishkeeping. Can be used outdoors in a pond or small fountain as well. Obviously don't allow to freeze. The outtake pipe is 3/8" FPT so you can use Spears or Charlotte pipe fittings to convert to 1/2" or 3/4" pipe which is generally more useful. Solid german made quality.

I wouldn't recommend this since the head pressure is very poor.

Solid pump though a bit loud that was sort of expected. My only complaints are that is that it has an 1/2" output line and came with no adapters for 3/4 or event threads compatible with standard fittings. I was able to just pinch the 3/4 hose over the top of the fitting but its not a perfect fit. Also missing rubber feet from the package those are apparently sold separately.Flow is 1:1 comparable to a SICCE 1.5 so much so that I didn't even have to change the sump drain valve settings.

Eheim pumps are also the same pumps that are used in their internal powerline internal filters which unfortunately are no longer available in the US. I have used the same internal filter for about 30 years and it runs without a hitch. Eheim pumps cost more, but in this instance they are more than worth the price.

Hard to beat an Eheim pump The technical data was very precise as I measured the head it could pump and it was spot on. I have used Eheim for a long time and never had an issue.

This is one mean pump, but make sure you get the accessories to take full advantage of it. I use it in my Hydroponics and it will allow me to enlarge my system a bit without buying a new pump. Easy to clean and it makes very little noise.

Well, I agree with the first writer, this is not an air pump. This is the 2nd replacement pump in our small fountain. I researched and calculated how much flow I would need at a 32" head by literally poring water from a 5 gallon pail over 2 minutes, and calculating an hourly flow requirement - at 32" head - 120 gal min to 150 gal max per hour.At 36 inches, this Eheim 1250, per company flow chart, was to deliver 250 gal per hour. I'm estimating my current flow rate somewhere close to 50-60 gal per hour. I initially gave this pump a `1 star. Fluke or not, it should deliver much better performance than this.Well...I later discovered the 'fluke' was a very slowly eroding fountain; fine sand like concrete that was actually partially plugging the thing. Once I discovered that, re coated my fountain with epoxy, it has been working dependably now for 2 years, which is about double the life of most fountain pumps I'm told by guys that build / repair home fountains. This pump is now pumping > 200 GPH, so, I'm satisfied with it.
