Removes only the rust and won't eat-away at the metal itself. Leaves the newly de-rusted metal ready to paint, plate or powder-coat.

  • Gentle enough for engine parts
  • Reusable
  • Removes about 5 sq. ft. of rust per quart

Liquid rust Dissolver works as long as the surface is wet. Items that cannot be fully immersed due to size can be placed in the discharge stream of a commonly available small pump. One gallon de-rusts about 20 square feet of metal.

Left in camping gear by mistake, my skillet was like new after cleaning & re-seasoning.(Rub w/lard & put in a hot oven then turn it off, like Grandma taught us!)

Just like all Eastwood products I have used, Eastwood Rust Remover Acid-Free Dissolver does exactly what it says. I had some bolts from my Jeep's engine that had the washers rust-welded to them. I soaked them for 24 hours (more than suggested) and they are now ready for painting. Can't recommend this product enough!

I found a really old set of horse hoof trimmers outside. They were from the former owners of our property. It removed some of the rust, even after soaking over night. Sanding and reapplying the solution a second night did not remove anymore rust.

This stuff is both terrifying and amazing. The chemical itself scared the crap out of me, but honest to god, it works.I’ve been using it for the last several months as a way to remove rust from the antique hinges on all of my mother’s doors. Look at the before and afters I’ve uploaded. You can literally see the pitting in the metal in the exact shape of where the rust used to be.HOWEVER within literally a few minutes after removing the hinges from the solution, they began to rust again. It was extraordinary. See the photo I attached, which was taken no more than 5 minutes out of the solution. You must dry whatever you are removing rust from immediately, like before you even take a second piece out of the solution. You must then soak your pieces in some kind of oil like WD40 for some time.My process was this:1) Take apart hinges2) Soak hinges for a day in a ziploc bag of paint remover3) Use a wire toothbrush to remove paint under running water4) Put hinges in a sealed Tupperware tub of this rust remover for 1-3 days5) Remove rust with a wire toothbrush under running water6) IMMEDIATELY, and I mean IMMEDIATELY, dry the hinges. Within 5 minutes of being out of the solution, the metal immediately starts to get a yellow-orange cast and literally rusts before your eyes. It’s insane. (See photo)7) Soak hinges in a second Tupperware tub of WD-40 for 1–3 days8) Clean with a paper towelThe directions mention that a piece of metal can be dipped in this solution to prevent rust. I believe this is wholly inaccurate. This really does work like a charm, but you really cannot skip the WD 40 step.

We bought this rust remover because we saw a YouTube video that was not a paid advertisement, that compared multiple different products and found this one to be far superior. We have frequently use vinegar in the past for rust removal.vinegar does a pretty darn good job. This stuff does a much better job. But you really should only use it if you will be able to fully submersed the piece you are removing rust from.we tried to do a tire rim, and we could only fit one six inch section of the rim into the liquid at a time. We let one section soak for a few hours, then rinsed it off, dried it, then put the next 6 in section in. By the next day the original section had re-rusted.we even tried putting oil on sections that were done, and they still re rusted before we could get the other sections done. In the end we had a very blotchy product. But everything that we fully submersed, came out beautifully. For example, we removed the rust from a severely rusted bike gear freewheel. It did a surprisingly great job. But you have to fully dry the piece and get it out of humidity or oil at right away or else rust begins to build almost immediately. It's strange.the directions tell you that if you cannot fully submerge the item, you should hook up a pump and have a continuous flow of the fluid pumping over your peace. I think for most normal people, this is not reasonable.super minor things where you want to remove rust so it looks a little better, or were you going to paint it afterwards, use vinegar. But if it's something super important, and you can fully submerge it in the liquid, this stuff doesn't really good job.nope, it doesn't smell bad. It doesn't burn if you get it on your hands. And it does not seem to stain clothes.
