ordered one of these before, was crap. ballooned out due to heat?ordered a replacement and it said 2-3 week, it’s been well over a month and still not shipped. save yourself the pain and the hassle and just buy a new axle assembly. if you’re buying one of these to replace a torn boot, chances are the original axle is over 10 years old at least. check the play in the joints, if it’s beyond the 1/16th inch spec, just toss the unit and buy a cheap one.waste of money and time

Boot too big for my Tahoe. Super tiny little screws and nuts, some of the holes int the rubber for the screws needed to be pierced before I could get the screws in. Very sharp, cut finger good, cheap sketchy retainers. Poor design. Left me hanging after already cutting of the old boot. Not happy.

If I had known what a royal pain in the ass it is to install this boot with all those little nuts and bolts I would have a paid a shop to pit a REAL C.V. boot on! Obviously not submergeable so not good for 4x4ing! Have nylon zap straps on hand before installing, the crap metal ones that come with it cannot be fully tightened without special tools!

Used this on my sons Sierra, said it was the right boot for it, had to cut some of the end off and clamps broke as soon as I tried tightening them, had to use zip ties. Could be okay as a temporary fix,

In theory, this is a great idea. However, using a Jack stand and one person, this product is difficult to assemble. I recommend using a lift and having a second pair of hands available, especially if you plan on using the included bands. After over an hour, I did get the large band to work, at least it feels tight. However, I had to use a hose clamp for the smaller part. The screws are a pain, but I made them work using a needle nose pliers to hold the tiny nut while I worked it through. All in all, a decent product, but you may need some help.

These are not that bad. Although I did not use the bands and the screws that were supplied with the kit. The screws were just too small for my fingers to place on the boot and the bands, oh boy, the bands were a pain in the behind and I gave up using them. What I did use and what worked for me was a rubber glue and plastic bands, the large ones, the kind the cops use as handcuffs. I also got the glue and plastic bands on Amazon. I put two of these boots on my truck and so far so good. I took the old boots off, cleaned the area with brake cleaner, put the new grease on the joints, and put the boot on. I put the rubber glue on the split in the boot, let it set up a bit and placed the two pieces together. I then took two bands and put them around the boot with just enough pressure to hold the two pieces together while the glue dries. I then used two more plastic band ties to secure each end of the boot to the cv joint and putted them tight with pliers. I use the truck ever day and its been holding up. Changing CV joints is not a big deal, but I felt until they start to make noise, this process with the boots will do. I did this while on my back under the truck. I did not have the wheel/tire off the vehicle during the repair. Good luck. BTW, you don't need to be an ace mechanic to do these repairs.

This is an awesome replacement boot! No glue, no mess, no waiting for glue to dry. This was an easy replacement for a torn boot. I spent hours before on installing a glue replacement boot, this on took me only about 45 minutes like they said. The boot was shipped very quickly as I wasn't even expecting it for a few more days!
