I finally got a chance to use this. It works well although it doesn't pick up everything.I am not a professional but I do projects around the house. When doing some remodeling, you of course will have metal screws, nails etc on the floor with the sawdust and other trash that you need to vacuum up. If the screws are old and you're not going to use them again, it's no issue to let them go straight into your shop vac, if you're NOT using a bag! But if you are, they can puncture the bag. And if you're trying to save NEW screws etc, then you don't want to fish them out of the canister if you're not using a bag. With this nozzle at the end of your vacuum hose you'll get 98-99 percent of the ferrous material attached to the magnet while you're cleaning. It obliviously won't do anything for aluminum, copper etc.So it's a neat thing to have, but it's not a cure all if you're looking to keep sharp things out of your bag.

This is a product that I thought I could use for cleaning up my woodworking garage shop after the day is done and it's time to clean up. I can't count how many times I have dropped screws or drill bits on the floor never to be seen again. I thought this would catch the metal objects before they enter my dust collection cyclone separator. Unfortunately, what turns out to be a good idea in theory, just did not get executed well in my opinion. The good.. It is a great idea that would be very handy. The plastic is tough and should last a long time. The connection port will work with the most common size vacuum hoses. It is Dewalt yellow. The not so good.. The nozzle is very wide and cannot sneak under cabinets to hunt out metal parts. The magnet does not span the width of the nozzle and is only in the front. The magnet is not very strong and you really need to be right on top of what ever you are looking to pick up. And finally it is not anti-static. you will get zapped when you touch the adapter. You can tell because the sawdust gathers like Bart Simsons spiked hair on the ends of the nozzle. The way I used it was to clean up the sawdust left by my router sled/flattening jig after flattening a 2 foot board. My homemade sled really got rattled when I used my new 2 1/4 HP Dewalt cordless router (awesome tool by the way) and a few of the grub screws fell out of the linear bearing blocks. I did not realize this until I heard something spinning around in my cyclone. Luckily I was able to switch it off right away and stop it before it got to the motor impeller. In fact there were three screws in the bin that got sucked up when using the vacuum attachment. This magnet is basically not strong enough to catch the metal and goes right by it.I am a Dewalt user for many years and have always been impressed with the quality of their corded and cordless tools, so this was a bit of a disappointment. I have heard that Dewalt as well as some other tool brands are getting copied and sold as genuine. This may be the case here. Although if it is a counterfeit it is a damn good one.I wanted to love this attachment, but I cannot recommend it...

This is a decent and well made nozzle, a little on the pricey side however. It works pretty good to clean up shavings and dust and other debris, but the magnet implementation is a little janky. I have another brand where the magnet is to the inside and works a lot better. It does work with many different hose sizes which is nice, would be great if there was a standard in those.

This attachment fits nicely on multiple hose sizes, and is small enough to stay out of the way when not in use. Unfortunately, when in use, it's pretty underwhelming. I found that if I need to find and pick up metal pieces with it, I have to shut off the vacuum, and slowly drag this upside down across the area. Once the metal bits are up, I can turn the vacuum back on and use it normally. The magnet just doesn't work properly when using this as it's supposed to be used. It definitely doesn't work nearly well enough to warrant its hefty price tag (at the time of this writing).

Not particularly impressed with this attatchment. I found it to difficult to get the right angle when trying to clean floors with the extensions. It's more useful hand held with a direct connection to the flexible hose. The plastic is heavy duty, I do like that. I just don't think I will ever reach for this attatchment now that I have used it. Way over priced for the functinality it provides.

First, I want to mention that I received this product for evaluation. I planned to use the DEWALT Magnetic Utility Nozzle for Shop Vac to use them without workshop vacuum. I expect that it is well made, fits our shop vac, and works well. This product has met all of my expectations, and the quality is great. We have a small workshop at home. Sometimes, a metallic fastener falls on the floor and we do not find them until we use the vacuum. This is a problem because they may damage the vacuum hose. So, we thought that this could be a good addition. The nozzle can be used for two diameters, you just attach the vacuum hose or tube to the nozzle. The angular orientation of the nozzle is ergonomic. The magnet is strong enough to catch the fasteners without problems but not too strong that you would need a tool to take them out. I would like to point out that steel components will be picked up by this attachment but not components or debris which are aluminum, zinc, or other materials which are not iron based. The reason for this is that any magnet works only if the material has iron.
