Vibrant Food Colors from Nature:

Manufactured on shared equipment with products containing tree nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs and soy.

ColorKitchen Naturally Sourced Color Pigments
USE: 1 color packet per pint of frosting for light frosting (1 color packet per ½ pint for more vibrant color). Enough for a cake, or a dozen cupcakes or cookies.
Blend color powder with dry ingredients before hydrating. For pre-made frosting, mix color powders directly into frosting or mix with a very small amount of water (approx ¼ tsp liquid to 1 ¼ tsp color to make a paste) for easy blending.
Natural colors are heat sensitive. Fading may occur when baking into cake for color. Best results in frostings and icings.

Why Make the Natural Color Switch
The coloring commonly used in food colors and sprinkles (FD&C Yellow 5, FD&C Red 3, FD&C Blue 1, FD&C Yellow 6) are artificial, petroleum-based chemical dyes that has been linked to behavioral health disorders, allergic reactions and contain known carcinogens. These are vibrant colors and a little goes a long way. It’s great to be able to find a collection of these natural food-based color powders in small quantities so you can try them all and experiment with color mixing economically. They work well in icing but the colors change drastically after baking so I wouldn’t recommend them for batter. I somehow managed to make a beautiful vegan rainbow layer cake using them in batter, though they didn’t look at all the way I thought they would when I put them in the oven! Basically rearranged them into a new rainbow after they emerged, but it worked and wowed my family. They don’t affect flavor or smell at all.

I bought these because I was looking for more natural food coloring options for iced sugar cookies. I have not actually baked anything with this in it so I can’t comment on if it changes colors or anything when heated. However, for coloring frosting, it works well. Sometimes you do have to use quite a bit of the powder to get the right color though.

Made my daughters pink and purple cake with these as the frosting coloring. I love the powders because it doesn't change the consistency of the frosting like a liquid. It's also amazingly vibrant! It does not alter the taste of the frosting either! So happy with these and will definitely be buying again!

I ordered this brand specifically because there was no mention online of it containing or being processed with nuts. I received the package today and it says processed in a facility with tree nuts. I am disappointed to say the least.

So a few reviews had me worried these would not work for my daughters smash cake. But, I used the colors in a yellow box cake mix and they look great! Granted, these are 6inch very thin cake layers so they didn't have to bake very long or hot and I used one full packed of the color in each one which is more concentrated than a full size cake round. So I'm ecstatic at the results! (Don't judge the end cake it was just a trial run) The green one could be brighter but otherwise It was a great purchase!
