This is an awesome setup, especially for the price. Would I recommend this for imaging? I'm no expert on that but I'd say for basic imaging and shorter term exposures, absolutely. Especially at lower magnifications. There is a little vibration when focusing at high magnification. It settles quickly, but it's enough to wreck imaging. That being said don't let the naysayers fool you. I used mine at a star gazing event just this past weekend where there were TWO 14 inch Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrains, and TWO 7 inch refactors setup in the observatory. I had more than a few people come up to me and say that my scope provided just as a clear of a view of the objects as the observatory's scopes. Not to say their equipment was cheap, especially those refactors. Far from it. It just shows how good this telescope setup is, especially for visual use in this price class.Alignment is simple and extremely accurate if done properly. I can get objects from the solar system to deep sky DEAD center in a 17MM eyepiece doing a 2 two star alignment. The tracking is spot on. I've left objects in the eyepiece over 20 minutes and absolutely no noticeable movement. The hand controller is very easy to use and provides you with a nice database of various objects in the cosmos. The mount is surprisingly quiet when slewing and the two inch tripod legs make it very sturdy. The only thing to be aware of that I can think of is this thing is HEAVY. You're talking 36 pounds of counterweights alone and probably right at 100 pounds all told. This is not a "grab-N-go" scope. But if you're buying an 11 inch scope, you should already know that! :) Make sure to take the time to balance it so you don't wear the motors out, and I always level the mount BEFORE putting the tube on. Just use caution and take your time with it since it's heavy. If you do that, trust me you won't be disappointed in what this can show you!

I received my package way ahead of schedule, without requesting an upgrade to the standard shipping. The instructions for setting up the mount an the scope were very simple, I didn't have to scratch my head once during assembly. The overall time to assembly the unit was about 45 minutes give or take 10minutes. I did not need any assistance until it was time to mount the tube, this was precautionary for the first time setup process; I would recommend getting an extra set of hands to prevent damaging your tube, which by the way is Hugh, at 24" in length.Once assembly it does get a bit more complicated with the alignment process, but diligence and perseverance will get you through it. (Alignment was actually pretty easy if you have you latitude and longitudinal coordinates)Just to check out the optics, without alignment I aimed the tube at a tree and then used the focuser to sharpen the image which provided an image so crisp I thought I could touch the object.I will complete my alignment of the unit today in hopes of clear skies tonight for some Extreme Celestial viewing in extreme HD.As I discover more about the scope from new adventures I will come back and provide more succinct feedback. So far I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The VX-11 is Monstrous yet a Beautiful piece of Machinery.
