The opening is very small. My 3lb Chihuahua can get in but she sometimes gets caught on it so she usually just climbs on top of it.

I'll be honest, I don't know how a larger cat would fit into this without getting stuck. Maybe a smaller cat would do ok? I will say that the purpose of this bed for me was for my pair of guinea pigs. They fit perfectly inside and it is such a lovely and cozy bed that I am very happy with. The inside cushion is absolutely perfect because it is a moisture wicking fleece that is warm but also stays dry even when my piggies pee in it. Not sure that this function is as important for cats unless they have incontinence issues, but if you are using this for guinea pigs, you'll be pleasantly surprised.The design is just as cute as it looks in the photos, the color is a very vibrant baby pink, and stitching and material are high quality. I have two chunky/large guinea pigs (2.5 lbs each) and they can both fit in at the same time, so it is a perfect size for them.Again, commenting on whether or not this would be an adequate size for a cat, I think it's a great option for kittens or smaller cats, but it is a pretty compact bed, so definitely make sure you are looking at the dimensions and whether or not your cat is on the larger or smaller side before buying.

This medium size is a tiny little cave bed, pretty much only appropriate for kittens. It has a removable bed pad that is very small but also very soft and cozy.I was looking for a cave bed for my cats for the winter, since they'd appreciate the coziness. The only size available when I ordered this was the Medium, which I saw was 13" -- but before I ordered, I measured the cardboard box (thanks, Amazon!) my biggest cat was laying in. He's a huge cat, but the box was 12" square at the base and he fit fine. My other 2 cats are smaller adults, so I figured someone could fit the bed.It was rolled up when I got it, and it didn't want to take shape like the page photos. The roof part didn't collapse, which was good, so I let it sit out and hoped the fresh air would help it expand a little more. My cats were curious, but none have climbed in the little hole so far. I think my smallest cat could squeeze in if she really wanted to.Hopefully they'll figure it out soon, climb in, and help stretch it out a bit more. I've learned my lesson, though; just because they fit in a certain size box doesn't mean they'll necessarily climb through a hole into a cave they may not be able to turn around in.If you have a teenage or adult cat, I recommend getting the biggest size they make. If my cats never show interest, I'll probably donate this to my local animal shelter, because it is cute & useful -- but in this case, only for kittens.Giving this 4 stars!
