I was not able to start my dryer when I turned the dryer's timer control knob. It turned as if it was stripped. In actuality, a piece of plastic was broken inside the knob. The specs claimed it would fit my model number but didn't. I ordered the dryer timer as well. After installing both parts, my dryer works perfectly. These two parts saved me a lot of money. I am a woman who was able to follow instructions and install the parts on my own. With the right parts, tools, and an understanding of direction, anyone can properly install the parts.

Mine lasted one year. The problem is this shaft design is defective, it's not all the fault of this product. They should use metal shafts that are robust, plastic just degrades quickly. I'm going to locking pliers.

It works for other dryers as well. I have an older whirlpool Maytag Neptune. The plastic on the dial skirt bent out of place, so I found this and it looked like a similar D style. Ended up working, happy with it- only thing with mine is that the arrow is opposite of the setting I’m actually selecting, I just took a sharpie and made a mark on the other side. Broke 7 months later. So much for it being updated. The other brand I ordered before that lasted 4 years. It’s no wonder you can buy these in a 3 pack- you’re going to need them apparently.

With so many items available to fix the dryer knob, it was trial by error to find the correct knob.
