It’s compact, lightweight, and a cinch to maneuver in cramped spaces thanks to its pivot function. An over-molded handle and finger grip help keep you comfortable from start to finish. The built-in LED work light illuminates dark areas and your worksurface, while the magnetic bit holder keeps an extra bit on standby. Plus, this screwdriver is designed with a battery status indicator, so you’ll always know how much power you have left. And it also comes with an accessories kit that’s perfect for hanging pictures and basic screwdriving tasks.

I bought this so I'd have a power screwdriver to do odd jobs around the house. I was thinking hanging pictures, or tightening up door handles here and there. However, this baby is a beast. We just replaced all our window in the house, and this power screwdriver handled taking down all the window treatments and hardware. Then it installed all the new hardware, including eight automatic window blinds. Then in went on to chug through installing three new door handles and three deadbolts. This includes the drilling and everything. Get this... it did all that on two charges. My husband even commented on how much he likes it. There you go, husband and wife approved.

I use this for work and share it with my coworkers so they can enjoy it as much as I do. It is obvious that they like it too, because people from both shifts use it all the time. It saves a lot of time and effort required removing and installing multiple small screws and nuts. Just what it was designed for! Would order another if the need arises.

Nunca me ha decepcionado black and Decker.

No, it's not perfect but at this price point it did exceed my expectations.Ideal around the home I use it to open my laptop case, assemble stuff like my new shop vac, working on appliances, lighting fixtures, the list goes on.Very solid straight to 90° pistol lock. All metal drive case. Rubber padding around nose of case. Battery status light. Trigger actuated LED headlight. Standard micro USB charge port. Magnetic and mechanical bit chuck. High capacity Lithium ion 4volt power cell. That's just a few of the features.I haven't purchased a new Black & Decker product in probably 30 years with all the higher end tools like Bosh, Makita and Dewalt but I was impressed when I picked one of these up at a H.D.store a few weeks ago & decided to order it.I own two homes and I'm always doing upgrades or maintenance and working on several vehicles. Several things caught my eye.#1. Lithium ion battery, watch out for products still using NiCd or NiMh batteries.#2. USB charge port, I could charge this thing off the stereo in my car /laptop/phone cube...heck I could charge it off my PlayStation.I really like not having to keep track of another dedicated charger#3. Transformer, going from pistol to straight. At a desk working in front of you the inline form is natural, Facing a wall the pistol position feels right.#4. Torque. Looking at the specs of many other cordless screwdrivers this has one of the higher torque numbers.CONS: My only real complaints are, There should be a ridge or built up area next to the foreword reverse button and trigger so it's not accidentally switched. I'll probably use some epoxy with a micro balloon filler to build up the case in those areas. The cheaper version (BDCS30) has the direction switch on top but lacks the pistol to inline transformation feature. The trigger could use a firmer spring, it's kind of a hair trigger. Also the kit included is of little use and doesn't have a conventional (blade) style bit , but I certainly didn't base this purchase on that.If you are in the market for a power screwdriver to work on computers or for the multitude of projects a homeowner faces go ahead & give this a try. It's excellent for those long winded screws on electrical fixtures and computer cases. Purchase a 1/4" to 4mm adaptor and utilize all the precision 4mm bits available from Wiha & ifixit.I can't speak to the negative reviews and issues others have had, I guess every now & then a defect will slip through. I can say that I'm very particular & don't tolerate defective poorly designed products and have no problem returning something and giving a critical review. I honestly would give it 4.5 stars if I could because of the switch issue but I'm sure I can modify that.I wish I'd had this when I helped my brother assemble his metal storage building with hundreds of sheet metal screws.P.S. The BDCS40 /30 and 20 will make great gifts this Christmas , just include a modest bit set.I'm not associated with this productI received nothing for my reviewI recommend this product

This review is specifically fo the BLACK+DECKER BDCS40BI 4V MAX with Lithium Battery. I give it only (4) stars because of two design quirks that may be issues for some potential buyers/users. Some big box discount stores sell a 2.4V NiCad version of this screwdriver for about half the price. I wanted the Lithium Ion version because the Li-Ion batteries hold a charge for a much longer time between uses. Months longer.Yes it has only one speed, just like every other cordless "screwdriver" I have ever had. When I need variable speeds, strength adjustment, and so on I instead use a Dewalt variable-speed drill/driver. For me this tool is for use with door hinges, wall plates and switch plates, license plates, cabinet pulls and handles and the like. For that it is as good as any other cordless screwdriver I have ever used. I like the forward-off-reverse control on this model because it is consistent with like controls on my other cordless tools.I did not need or even particularly want the two-position articulating grip, but now that I have it I can see it is a nice plus. Also, I laughed about the magnetic spare-bit holder, expecting it wouldn't hold a bit in place well when manipulating the tool, but I find that it is a very strong magnet and does hold a spare bit rather securely. This tool as I bought it here on Amazon came with a small accessory set with a number of small bits, fasteners, and picture hangers. Now for the not-so-good. The LED Light! It is operated each and every time you press the trigger far enough to make the bit spin. This is true even when the Forward-Locked-Reverse slider is in the "locked" position. I can find no way to disable the light. You can lock the motor with the slider, but you cannot lock the trigger, so you cannot lock the light (off). So if you carry this model cordless screwdriver around in say your hip pocket, or a tool apron or tool belt, or store it in a tool box where other tools can roll up against it, the trigger is likely to get pressed, turning on the LED light, and that will drain the battery. If the tool is in Forward or Reverse you will likely hear the motor spinning when that happens. But if you have it in the Locked position the motor will not spin, but the light will still operate. And one last little dig. My previous cordless screwdrivers each had combination bits. Slotted on one end and Phillips on the other. Made it convenient and quick to change from one to the other. This screwdriver will only accept one-ended bits as the hex shank is not deep enough to swallow the head of a combination bit. far enough to get the bit's hex shaft into the shank Ah! Now I know why the magnetic bit holder is there!
