My wife has been having trouble getting in & out of the shower (tub with shower) and she requested I get her a Safety Bar so she can get in & out safely. The bar came in, checked it out. The bar came with 6 long screws and an installation instructions.Got my tools out to install it. The end by the edge of the wall went into the stud and the other end, there was no stud. So I had to use Mollys for that end. 1 Drill bit big enough for the screws and a larger for the Mollys. The end that went into the stud, 2 screws stripped and had to replace them. The screws appear to be cheap. Not sure if they were aluminum or a cheap grade of steel what with how easily they stripped. This could be prevented if they used Star Screws instead of Phillips. Also they could include a couple of extra screws and some Mollys for those who may need them. The Safety Bar looks good and should serve it's purpose to prevent my wife from falling and hurting herself. I set it at an angel that'll make it easy for her to get in & out.I'm glad I got and installed this.

We bought 2 of these grab bars and are very pleased with them. They look nice and are very sturdy. We had no problems with installation. One is placed vertically outside the shower and we use it all the time- it has been more helpful than we expected. The second one we placed diagonally on the back wall of the shower so that it can be reached if you have fallen- the only problem with this is that the finishing cap on the bottom tends to pop up because of the angle so that you have to push it back in place but that is not a big problem at all. I recommend this grab bar.

I've installed a ton of these over the years for clients. These are the only ones I install when I'm building a shower. I always install backing blocks to make sure there is something solid to screw them to otherwise they could rip out of the wall.

Bought the first one to get a bathroom ready for my father-in-law. It has stood up well over the years so bought another for the other bathroom as we have taken over the house and plan on being here for awhile. Nice finish and solid. I put blocking between the studs for both bars, as the wall mounts are mounted 24" on center, you will miss one stud on a standard 16" on center stud, without blocking. The first bar I installed I cut the drywall and installed a block then re-drywalled. Allows 3 screws per mount so solid. I would buy the grab bar / towel bar by MOEN that comes with a plastic mount "secure mount anchor" to mount to a hollow part of the drywall, if you did not want to put blocking for one mount. However wood 2 x 6 blocking between studs is still the best method.

I bought this to use next to the tub/shower in one of our secondary bathrooms, so that while stepping over the tub rim when getting in or out there would be something to hold onto instead of just the weak towel bar or sliding shower door. The finish of the grab bar is brushed nickel rather than the normal plain stainless steel, so it matches the other finishes in the bathroom. The escutcheons on the ends are decorative and also help eliminate the institutional appearance of many grab bars. The bar itself is well designed, extremely strong, and the flanges allow for mounting screws in many postions to match whatever wall conditions you might have. After installation, no mounting screws are visible.I used a Moen "Securemount Anchor (SMA1000)" on one end of the grab bar, since it needed to be mounted on drywall with no stud or blocking behind it. It is a perfect solution when there is nothing solid to screw into. The lower end was screwed into existing blocking behind the wall. The overall mounting is so secure that I can literally hang off the grab bar. With the 24 inch grab bar mounted vertically and centered at about four feet, it can be conveniently reached and used by both children and adults. It simultaneously overcomes the hazards of a slippery tub, wet floor, and loose floor mat. The improvement in safety is dramatic with no real loss of aesthetics as the style of the grab bar is similar to a towel bar. I think a grab bar like this should be required in the building code for all tubs and showers.
