Working on my 2009 Suzuki Boulevard C50 over the winter months I decided to add a Tachometer on my engine guard so I purchased a Bikers Choice from Amazon. In addition I purchased this Baron Tachometer Adapter since the bike is a single fire system with dual coils. With the extensive work I have done to the bike it was easy to install since I had many components removed. After getting the bike all back together and testing it out i found the tachometer had no needle movement on it. I reluctantly partially removed the radiator to check all connections and got it back together then started the bike again. Still no needle movement. This may work with another type of tachometer or bike but I am giving up on this adapter and will try a different one.

Baron's Custom Accessories offer total junk. Their customer support is a joke! A real "clown shoes" operation! I wish I had burned the money instead of them getting it!

This thing did exactly what it said it would do, and exactly what i was hoping it would do, i was starting to think you could not hook up tach on a 2005 Softail Deluxe but, with this you can. Like i said in title, this works on my 17$ cheap tach ...

Would be a 5 if install wasnt such a pain without any wiring/color diagram. No where near as bright as it is implied in pics but works good after figuring out the wires.

The product does exactly what it claims and at a lower price point than other units. Installed it on my 2017 Honda Fury to get an aftermarket instrument cluster with RPM gauge to work correctly, so far no issues.

I installed this on my Honda Shadow Aero vt750c motorcycle. There are two coil packs. One coil pack is up under the front left corner of the gas tank and the second coil pack is under the seat behind all the electrical. I was able to fish a cord from the front all the way to the back under the gas tank using the factory zip ties. I connected the yellow and blue wires from the adapter to the negative coil wires just a few inches before they went into the ECM because they were easily accessible at that point. One was at each end of the bike. But both were at the ECM. Just like everybody else says it did not work at first. I had to add a 47k ohm resistor from the green signal wire to ground and that fixed the problem. The tach worked pretty good overall. I had a Biker's Choice $55 tack. The needle bounced at certain RPM ranges but would settle down quickly. I honestly think the bouncing tach is not incorrect. I just believe it has too fast of a response time. I added a new fuel map exhaust cold air induction K&N air filter high octane fuel to the bike and the horsepower went up dramatically and the tack stopped bouncing. Every once in a while you hear a little miss in the motor or something because of the fuel and and you notice the needle bounce but if the motor was running smooth the needle was solid as a rock and it's solid as a rock all the way from 1200 to 6300 RPM. The size of the resistor from the signal wire to ground is not real critical I don't believe. we're only dealing with a 12-volt system. I honestly think anything over about 12 ohms would probably work. When I had just one coil pack connected it worked without the resistor but when I got the second one installed there was no functioning. So it's right on the verge of being too much voltage or not enough voltage and so it wouldn't take much of a resistance at all I don't believe to make the tack work with just about anybody's brand of tachometer. It is either a pull up or pull down resistor. The Japanese sometimes use negative logic and so it's either pulling the signal down to ground or it's pulling it up to 12 volts. And so those huge resistors will be dropping all the DC voltage across them so that only the signal would be present. Or at least that's what I remember from college where I got my Bachelor's of EET. There is another guy who does a write-up similar to mine who used a 68 K Ohm resistor with no problems and it made his system work just fine.

This was an easy install, and the connections geometry fits my Honda VTX 1800 like a glove. Very clean and pro looking end result. All required parts and supplies, including a variety of connectors, were supplied as part of the kit. The adaptor really works well. Very little tachometer needle flutter. Nice product.
