This set takes a little bit of experimenting to use. I'm not sure what the purpose of the acrylic guide is, although it does help make straight cuts as long as the paper fits on the mat and isn't longer than the guide. The mat is not truly self-healing – if you cut with any force, the knife damages the mat. The little knife is very flimsy.

Very small, I thought I could use it but it’s small.

I do not have a lot of experience with this type of cutter so some of it could have been me. This is a nice size cutter. The top has a lip that catches on the top of the mat that keeps it in place which was great. The problem I had is the top doesn't cover the mat completely and when I tried using it to cut I had issues with it pulling at the paper. I am going to try it again a couple more times.

I found this trimmer very awkward to use. While the separate guide has a lip on each end to keep it aligned with the cutting mat (a very good idea), the guide doesn't reach the full length of the mat so one end is raised, resting on the mat. This can easily cause paper to pull as it is being cut and distort the line. Also, the measurements are odd if you are a card maker: 3/4 inch at each side, then 1/2 inch increments across the mat. The guide is set up the same way, so the grids don't match, making it impossible to trim, for instance, 1/4 inch from a piece of paper. I was hoping to use this in an upcoming workshop, but this is totally unsuitable.
