The Apex G-129 RC Radio Transmitter for FPV is ridiculously small. I was expecting at least the size of the Radiomaster Pocket, but this is even smaller. This may all seem reasonable, but overall, the controller isn’t built with high-quality materials. Everything feels cheap and plastic. The buttons are clicky and clunky, not very smooth to press, and the gimbals are incredibly stiff. I could probably take it apart and see if that could be modified, but I’m not sure it’s worth it. ItFurther, while this ELRS radio can run up to 500 mW, it’s not running EdgeTX, and the pre-mapped buttons are not standard. Initially, I thought it was broken because none of the buttons were mapped to AUX1, the standard arm/disarm port. That was kind of a significant oversight. Luckily, it can be remapped in Betaflight, Ardupilot, or whatever flight controller software is used to program a quad. It does come with a decent storage case. The USB is a cheap and short USB cable that is too small to use for sims. However, the sticks are removable and can be stored in the body of the controller. While all of this may seem bad, if you need a small radio, this is it. I often travel for work and usually bring a micro quad with me, and this one would save a lot of space. Secondly, the advert for the product seems to emphasize that it’s used more for simulators. I suppose this works quite well. I have big hands, so it’s almost too small for me, but I can still make it work, and it doesn’t seem to impede movements. That said, spend ten more dollars for the price and get a proper RM Pocket.

WAY over my head. I wanted this to use with the DJI Virtual drone. I also wanted it for future use as an FPV drone. This seems to do more than I could ever imagine. Super nice case and cable set. I would recommend it.JB

I recently tried the APEX G‑129 RC Radio Transmitter for FPV racing, and I’m blown away by how well it performs out of the box. The dual-mode support—VR70 and ELRS 2.4 GHz—offers rock‑solid signal stability up to 600–700 meters, making it ideal for fast, precise control. Its plug‑and‑play receiver setup is refreshingly simple—no fumbling with bind cables, just power up and fly . The compact, lightweight design feels solid in the hands, and it seamlessly supports FPV simulators, which is great for practice sessions. For newcomers or budget-conscious racers looking to get into FPV, this is a fantastic, reliable transmitter that delivers exceptional value.

It doesn't have every feature a seasoned pilot might want - no swappable battery, no modular transmitter, plastic gimbals - but for a beginner or someone looking to spend some time in a simulator, this gets the job done well. Including ELRS in this model is just icing on the cake and provides a good platform to grow. The built-in stick storage and carry case are nice touches. The guide printed on the back of the remote also provides a great quick reference and has already saved me time and headache.

This radio is so small. It makes the RadioMaster Pocket look like a giant! It’s just… barely flyable. The hardware feels cheap and lightweight in the hands. It has an integrated battery and ELRS transmitter that supports up to 500mW at 50hz. The gimbals are very tiny and cheap plastic in Mode 2. The antennas fold out and are nice and compact. The sticks can be removed and stored in the top of the radio. Overall, it feels cheap in the hands. That said, it’s smaller than any radio I’ve seen on the market. They even include a nice little carrying bag.The radio doesn’t use EdgeTX or any other standard firmware as far as I can tell. This means there is nearly zero customization. There are a few options to change the output power and switch between ELRS and their own protocol type, and that is it. You will need to modify your channels to make use of the ones they pre-mapped in its firmware. Be aware they somehow forgot to map any of them to AUX1… which means you won’t be able to put the arm switch on AUX1, which will impact how fast the quad can arm and disarm…. A big oversight that could have easily been avoided. Hopefully, they release a new firmware version that resolves this. It also supports data over USB if you want to hook it up to the simulator.Overall, the hardware is crap, the firmware is crap, but hey, it’s micro-sized! If you are looking for the smallest radio around to toss in a bag with a 65mm whoop I haven’t seen anything smaller. The sticks are removable and storable, it has 500mW 50hz ELRS, has an integrated battery, and comes with a nice carrying case. The king of portability, crap at literally everything else. I would skip this radio and go for the RadioMaster Pocket unless size is the most important factor for you.

This controller appears to be quality made, the plastic shell is thick and has texture, and the sticks are metal and has good feels to them, unlike the cheaper controllers made with thin plastic shell. The carrying case is also high quality. The only negative experience is that I was unable to get the DJI Simulator to work, but other PC based FPV apps worked just fine, I think it's the DJI app issue and not the controller. Overall, this is a good dedicated to FPV controller and a must have for drone hobbyists.

Gimbals feel good on this controller. It's nice that it has ELRS. There are a few extra buttons which can be assigned. Plan to use this with an analog mini whoop. Also comes with soft case, great for storage.
