I love things that just work. This is just as easy as a robot vacuum, if not more so, because it doesn’t get stuck and since it charges via solar, I’m not having to help it return to its dock. It keeps the surface clean without my own manual labor, and is a general wonderful quality of life device. One of the things that I’ve learned with age is to be careful what you wish for, because when you get it you’ll just have to clean, maintain, and fix it. This takes some of the maintenance out of pool ownership, leaving more time for fun. Or at least cleaning something else. I’m convinced that every pool needs one of these. It’s easy to empty, and while I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce Aiper, I’ve named mine Ape. Naming is an honor reserved for those household devices that I consider essential and effectively humanoid like in their capabilities. Ape is awesome!

Ok, I bought the whole thing to be free from weekly pool service that keeps going up and up... Also the caddy, as I can’t see myself – a 90-pound girl – dragging that 30 + lb. thing back and forth from the pool for charging. So, close to $3K.When the last piece arrived (all on different days) I eagerly proceeded to unpack and put things together. Which was a chore! About 2 hours of struggling with heavy parts and instructions obviously written by a non-native-English-speaker writer.Connecting both the Scuba and the HydroComm to the Wi-Fi and linking them to each other was a cinch. Everything seemed to be working fine. Finally, very proud of myself, I hassled the beast onto the caddy and made it to the backyard to drop the beast and the HydroComm Pro into my pool. That’s when the problems started. The Scuba immediately started meandering with no apparent purpose and never coming up the walls, although it was set to ‘underwater’ mode. The HydroComm Pro would not let me set my pool parameters correctly – I have a saltwater pool, but the setting would always go back to ‘freshwater’, no matter how many times I tried. It also immediately started to give me red alarms on the state of the water, which had been just tested as perfect by the usual means. Also, my Pentair Salt system app confirmed the ideal level of salt, and my Hayward Ozonator confirmed to be running just fine.At that point, exhausted from the unpacking, putting together, and carrying, I decided to wait for tech support to be available the next morning. The morning after obviously the beast was out of power, and the HydroComm was on (the sun shines pretty bright here) but disconnected. I tried to connect it again, but nothing. It kept telling me that the Wi-Fi password was incorrect, although it wasn’t, and the thing even showed on my router with the correct IP address. Mystery. So, I opened a chat (from within the app) with tech support:Me: ‘Hello, I just got the entire system, Scuba Pro and HydroComm Pro, in my pool last night. They were both supposedly working properly, both connected to my Wi-Fi and linked. However, this morning the Scuba is obviously out of juice and the HydroComm says it is not connected to my Wi-Fi – though everything seems fine and it shows on my router – and will not bring the Scuba up.’Tech: ‘Hello, happy to know you are happy with our full system. Is the Scuba charged?’Me: ‘No, I can’t retrieve it’Tech: ‘Please charge it and then we’ll be able to see what’s wrong.’Me: ‘How do I charge it in the middle of my 40K Gal pool, under 10 ft of water?’Tech: ‘You are going to have to retrieve it’Me: ‘How? I have no pole long enough to attach the hook and reach the bottom in the middle of my pool’Tech: ‘Dive and bring it up’Me: ‘Are you kidding?’ (I am a 90-lb girl, the beast is over 30 lbs and under 10 ft of water)Tech: ‘I’m not kidding’Me: ‘But isn’t the HydroComm supposed to be able to bring it up?’Tech: ‘You have the HydroComm?’Me: ‘Yes, as I said at the beginning of our chat, I have the whole system, set both items up yesterday and linked them, but today – though the app says they are linked - nothing works, and they do not communicate.’Tech: ‘I’m going to open a ‘more help needed’ ticket; what is your order number and the Scuba serial number? It’s on the bottom of the Scuba’Not sure about you, but for almost $3K I expect things to work, and tech support to be able to help when they don’t, or at least to be able to read what I write and not just blurt out something laughable. This thing and its support system are not ready for prime time. Once I pay the gardener to fish it out of the pool, it will go right back. The money saved will pay for about 2 years of weekly pool service and maybe in another couple of years some other ‘smart’ system will be available, or at least one with some real tech support behind. Or maybe not…

I never thought I'd get a robot to do my pool cleaning in my life but here we are. While I was puzzled at first the instructions and the set up where really clear and in a few minutes without taking into account the charge time, the cleaning robot was fully set up. I have a medium sized pool that's fairly deep but I didn't seem to affect it too much. While the cleaning was not perfect it did 95% of the job, saving me a lot of time and back pain. Considering the price, it might be an absolute must but if you can afford it, it does its job.

The AIPER pool skimmer zooms around the pool to clean the surface. First impressions are that it does quite a good job, though as this is a surface skimmer you'll still need to combine this with other cleaning for the pool floor and walls. It does not come with a dock, so is initially charged by the DC adapter, but then uniquely it also has solar panels on it so it can maintain and charge while it's running around!

I have a few items from Aiper and this one is just as great as the others. It is simply and effective way to clean the pool without having to be directly involved.I have one wiper unit that handles the floors and walls and this one deals with skimming the surface for leaf matter and other detritus. It charges relatively quickly and is efficient at it's work providing me a clean pool overtime I have an interest in using it.

This pool skimmer is pretty legitimate throughout! It works well at maintaining the surface of the pool and cleaning up bugs, leaves, etc that blow in. I haven't had the same issue with it getting stuck that some other reviews mentioned, but it might be the shape of my pool that's preventing that (mostly rounded). Overall its a great solution for keeping the top of your pool clean! It's not meant for sides or bottom so don't expect it to do that.

I had a rather high expectation going in when I first saw this unit and after testing it for a few days, I felt like this came up a little short. My next-door neighbor, when he first saw it, thought it was doing a fantastic job and asked me if he could borrow a few hours to test it on his pool. After he came back, it was all smile on his face and said he was going to get one because this robot did so much better job than his contractor.

So much to love about this skimmer! The pool got opened late last week and we have a neighbor with a budding maple tree. That means whirlygigs everywhere! Time for the skimmer! Just opening the box you can tell this is a quality piece of equipment. Directions and FAQ sheets are well written and easy to follow. Set up was a breeze. The app is intuitive and easy to use. Bluetooth connection was about as easy as turning the unit on. The first time we put it in the pool it did its thing and sucked up just about everything on the surface in no time. I barely needed to do anything after it was done. Emptying the unit is super easy too. Just slide the top open and the handle on the filter basket automatically pops up. Just pull out the basket, empty it and maybe give it a quick rinse if the pool is really dirty. Pop it back in and you're ready to go. And no need to worry about battery! The solar panel will keep it charged while it's working in the pool. I am sure that if you have too many cloudy days you might need to take it out and plug it in, but that would not be a thing that you'd need to do very ofter. I looked at other skimmers like this that were twice the price, so in my book, this one is a great value!

The Aiper Solar Pool Skimmer (ASPS) is a great way to maintain your pool if you have pesky debris around your pool (leaves, debris, etc.) and provides ample cleaning for worry free swimming. The ASPS is built quality tough, which explains why so many pool maintenance companies rely on Aiper products for their arsenal! It is powered via rechargeable battery, which you can charge with the included cord or the built in solar panels. The panels keep the battery juiced for longer periods of runtime, so you will always have a fresh pool! It handles most debris quite well and the catch basin provides ample room for leaves and other floating debris. Simply lift the filter basket out, empty and rinse with a hose, place it back into the ASPS and let er rip around the pool once again! It has a decent travel speed so as not to injure anyone while in the pool. Overall the Aiper ASPS is an excellent pool skimmer. Combined with one of their scuba vacuums, the Aiper products will give you the best pool experience!

I’ve been on the lookout for a competing pool skimmer robot for the past year when I finally came upon the Aiper Solar Pool Skimmer. This thing came packed like a tank. Layered in cardboard to give it the best chance of survival on its delivery journey. It arrived in immaculate condition. I usually manually skim my pool early in the morning, usually finding leaves, pollen (and lots of it) and usually insects. Of course if you don’t get them in time, they sink to the bottom of the pool.Out-of-the box, the Aiper Skimmer was easy to charge with the included charger AC adapter. It immediately beeps to life with a blinking blue light at the rear of the robot. I fired up the Aiper app and it pressed the + button to add the robot. The immediately detected the robot and asked me to connect to the wifi. I was connected in a mere 5-10seconds (amazing!). The design of the robot is stellar. It’s got some massive solar panels at the top to keep it topped up throughout the day (of course when it’s sunny) and various futuristic curves which are simply eye-catching.I got it into the water and did a first skim operation via the app. The skimmer starts slowly moving through the water and uses two small wheels at the front of the robot to keep it moving, when it reaches the pool’s walls. I kept it running throughout the day and came back to look at it late in the evening. The pool looked fantastic. Crystal clear and devoid of any debris. Coupled with the pool robot, you’ll have pool that rivals those of Hollywood celebrities!Cleaning the skimmer was also a breeze. I pushed the rectangular teal button at the back of the robot to engage the top slide out tray which then revealed the interior of the robot which houses the filter basket. It’s got a handle that allows you to pull out the basket and a little notch to open the basket from the bottom to dump out the debris. From a design standpoint, I would put the notch at the top instead of the bottom of the basket so as to not get the grime from the debris on my hands (but that’s nit picking). I hosed the basket down and got the skimmer cleaned up and prepped for the day after. I’m totally in love with this robot and look forward to future uses and a crystal clean pool in the coming year.

The problem with having a pool is that it requires a lot of maintenance, which can quickly zap the joy out of it. Being able to automate some of the process makes it so much better, allowing you to jump into the pool and enjoy it without spending half your time skimming the surface. This is exactly what the Aiper Pool skimmer offers.I've used other Aiper products before, and I can tell you they work amazingly and make life so much easier. This one seems to follow along the same path as the other ones I've used. The big difference between my other one and this one is that this one cleans the surface. This means it catches most of the debris before it has a chance to sink to the bottom and start falling apart, which in turn means a much cleaner pool. So, it's not the best time of year to test a pool cleaner right now, but I managed to use a bit of ingenuity and came up with some ways to test it, and so far, it's been great. The main thing about this cleaner is that it cleans the surface, so basically, you put it in the pool and it boogies around sucking up whatever is floating on the top. And because it's on the top, it's solar powered, which basically means you can just let it run for as long as you want.So far, it's done a pretty decent job of topping up the battery, but I would think overall, depending on the weather and your location, you would need to take it out and fully charge it by plugging it in. Truthfully, that wouldn't be very often though.Even emptying it isn't much of a chore, because it has a good-sized debris bin. Now, between the bin and the solar panel, it does make this skimmer fairly large, so come family playtime in the pool, it probably will need to be removed. Which is easy enough, and you can even use the app to drive it right over where you need or show off and have it suck up some leaves that it hasn't caught yet.So all in all, I am super impressed with this skimmer. It's well-built, easy to use, and has some awesome features. Add one of these to your pool, and you won't be disappointed.WHAT I LIKED:• Well-made• Solar powered• Large collection bin• Has sensors to stop it from hitting items• App controlledWHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:• It's a bit large, so don't expect to put this in a hot tub or anything.
