Never buy auto parts on Amazon. This review is for Amazon‘s flawed system not AC Delco or GMC. First off, I don’t leave a lot of reviews but when we have to stand up for what’s right, I do. Amazon has always been pretty darn good, however, not this time. I bought a starter online. It was under 2yr warranty by the manufacturer. My part died in less than a year and it melted. Mechanic said clearly defected. I contacted Amazon who just flat out denied the return saying sorry kid no money back for you, so then I had to contact ACDelco because Amazon won’t honor any type of warranty past 30 days. It’s a lot of rigmarole I had to babysit the process and the ball was dropped during this mayhem. I’m not sure by whom maybe a little AI maybe a little humans. Now, the manufacturer and the Amazon prefer you return the item get a new one which can take anywhere between 2 to 4 wks. And if your like me, you might need your vehicle to get back-and-forth to work so instead manufacturer stated I can just return it get a refund, most likely I wouldn’t have to return the actual physical item so I can get my core refund at the local store. I tried asking if I could instead go to a local dealer or anything to circumvent the Amazon Obstacles just get the return done get a new starter from GMC get my vehicle up and running ASAP. Seems like an easy option, right? But no can do. In my case, the only way to get my van up and running quickly is to buy a local starter for much more (who by the way, asked me for the old starter and I said no I can’t because while Amazon’s not supposed to ask for it back I didn’t want to lose my refund in case they did which is what would’ve happened in hindsight. I would’ve lost ALL my refund. ) now as you try to go through the rigmarole … according to ACDelco GMC, they reach out to Amazon get things going, and then I’m supposed to get a refund of $86.27 plus I was supposed to be able to get my core of $11 so basically just under hundred dollars total back to me. I must say the parts people at ACDelco GMC were great but Amazon is flawed . Amazon said I must return the defective part which I told them is not working and actually slightly melted. I suggested sending pictures back and they said “no” then I said it would save them shipping money and I would get my $11 core win win right? I also explained how Amazon did this before with me when something was shipped to me broken they didn’t have me ship it back. They just took pictures instead . In the end, Amazon gives me $69.01 once I return the item because they have a restocking fee because it’s past the 30 day window so basically just consider your warranty isn’t really what you think and that’s why I suggest never buying auto parts on Amazon. I lost a $28 difference with the restocking fee. It’s dumb. So please please please never order auto parts on Amazon. I hope manufacturers read this post as well and realize maybe they shouldn’t sell anything on Amazon. It’s a flaw in their algorithm and their AI Amazon is getting worse and it’s not worth it. Well, one could say $28 isn’t a big deal I suppose it’s not but lotta time effort and intelligent suggestions on my end was wasted for the nonsensical AI algorithms and lackluster workers at Amazon that can’t think beyond what they’re told by AI . Very sad times we live in. By the way, while it’s difficult to get to speak to a human about things like this at Amazon I did , and she basically read stuff out of computer screen with a bad accent and explains how sorry she was but couldn’t do anything. I mentioned a bunch of things and she talked to her supervisor to see if she could do any of these things but again shot down after they read the computer . I explain to them that I was gonna give them a bad review to try to correct the system and I gave her another chance, but she said sorry no dice and that’s why I’m leaving the review because people need to know where Amazon is going, of course Amazon‘s not the only Business going in this direction. So I’m sure it’s a fine product and I got a defective one just to be the example to change things and wake people up of it. Either way if you decide to buy this part, good luck I wish you the best and I hope you have happy travels wherever life leads you on your journey.

Exactly what you hope for but rarely get. Perfect fit and super easy install on my 1992 f150 5.0. Way to go AC Delco! (And Amazon).

I attached a picture beside the factory '88 5.0 Mustang starter, along with how I wired it. This later model starter is slightly smaller/lighter and cranks quicker. It requires one extra wire to the solenoid mounted on the starter.

Nice shiny, new starter. Got me back in action. 2 bolts and three wires later and I’m driving again.

This works great and seems to be of good quality. Install was super simple on my 1996 F150.It was cheaper than the no name brand starter at my local auto parts store.

The part fit correctly and is currently working as expected. The only reason that I did not rate it 4 stars is that the directions were not helpful at all for installing. It did however give directions on how to diagnose if the problem with the car was due to a faulty starter or not.
