The steering gear gets a lot of wear. After about a decade, mine finally gave out for good and needed replaced. This kit fit my cub cadet cc30 perfectly. It was easy to install. It came with everything except the plastic rivets that are removed when taking it apart. I reused the rivets, but new ones would be nice.

We all know the steering on a Troy Built 30R riding mower is a poor design. This kit helps by replacing the parts that wear too soon. I'll let you know next year if they hold up any better.

The price of this kit which includes 2 gears was $43 cheaper than the OEM kit which only included 1 gear set AND is on backorder at present. This gear set was very easy to install and it fit perfectly!! My mower is 8 years old. I have a fairly small lawn and mow it about 20 to 25 times per year. The OEM steering gear that was on the mower was getting pretty sloppy. After installing this new unit it radically improved the steering slop. I will revisit this review in the future to see how it holds up with use but my initial opinion is that this is a real bargain. I highly recommend it!!!

Quick delivery and easy to change! The kit even came with a packet of grease which makes it steer with ease. I like that it came with two racks and gears, but sadly it only has one plastic guide rail which is usually what fails first. The included nuts and bolts are not good quality. I snapped one with a socket wrench. Reuse the factory ones or spend a buck at the hardware store for some quality ones. The instructions were poorly printed but if you’re handy enough to do the repair it’s pretty straightforward. That said, the whole kit was $25 and overnight prime delivery compared to $65 from the dealer (for only one rack that would’ve taken a week to ship). Would recommend for a quick fix! 4.5 ⭐️

While cutting grass with my 2020 Murray 30 inch rear engine, mini rider, a small tree limb about 2 inches in diameter went between the frame and the axle leveraging the steering mechanism sharply to the left afterwards there was a pronounced tight spot in the steering. As it turned out, two teeth were broken off the steering I don’t know what to say rack/pinion, pinion gear. After researching online, I ordered this kit. Total install time was approximately 20 minutes. A portion of that time was spent searching for a screw that I had dropped and was stuck somewhere along the frame. Luckily the kit included exact replacements for all screws, carriage, bolts clips, cotter pins, etc., as well as an extra rack. Should the new one be damaged. I centered the steering wheel aligned, both front wheels hooked up the steering linkage and voila, steering was as new! If this kit fits your mower, you can’t go wrong purchasing it if need be, I would definitely purchase a second time!

I bought a cheaper set on here last year that barely made it one season. This one is much better quality with the plastic guide, and an extra gear. Finished a season, and haven’t even used the second gear provided. Great product
