It's a very good quality rooftop vent enclosure. I actually ran a 6-in vent from my range and then had a reducer off of this 8 in I used to connect to the line. Plenty of the 8 inch comes through in the attic to facilitate doing this. The event itself seems to be pretty durably made. To finish on it that's quite nice. Hopefully it holds up to the elements. I wouldn't say this is a easy install. You definitely need to know what you're doing to get this installed and sealed properly through your roof. I will update the post if I notice any issues regarding wear and tear in the future.

I ordered this to replace a plastic dryer vent with similar qualities. This is an excellent exhaust vent for the exterior part of the home. Everything is well made and durable, it’s beautiful and was a no hassle replacement. I was worried the 4 inch opening would be too tight because I had difficulty removing and inserting my previous plastic one. This fit perfectly. I had zero issues installing.I will say that the grate is removable with a hex wrench. There’s not a way to open the grate without one. That is easy, but I imagined it was able to be swung open and it’s not. I opted to not use the grate because I would frequently have to remove it for lint. This is a non issue for non dryer uses.

We recently got a storage building that needed a ventilation system. This vent is perfect for what we needed it for. It's very well designed and does the job well. It fits like it needs to and isn't too hard to install. I like that it comes with a piece that is removable for easy cleaning. This is a great vent system that keeps our storage building cooler.

This vent is well made and has all the required hardware to install it. It has a really good appearance to it, and a good paint job. For my purposes, this vent is perfect the way it is designed, I am using it for a true vent.My reason for the four stars is, if planning to use it for a dryer vent, clearing the screen might be an issue. It would consist of removing 4 bolts that hold the screen in place.

Overall Sturdy well constructed. This is nice and of good design overall - the flap stays shut for roof type application - however the hinge that connects flap on mine is installed such that there is a small gap on the hinge side - also note there is no spring mechanism on the flap so locating on a wall or vertically the flap does not close completely and can blow around - this maybe possible on the roof as well if the flap were facing strong winds. Vertically light wind easily moves it and causes rattling so if your hoping to use on wall application due to short pipe length and thin walls - this may be a concern as far as noise / insect entry is concerned. The grille will keep larger pests out and I do not recommend removing the grate as it will allow squirrels, raccoons and other animals easy access - I've seen some crazy things- mama raccoons tearing hole in a pipe to nest in attics. This unit is really marketed for hood type vent but also can work with exhaust fans of other types. I had ordered this for wall application and may look for a spring device that would allow it to shut fully and still open under correct pressure for wall use or just hang on to It for our new building - that will have a center island hood at some point. I'm happy overall with this but I do wish the flap had been hinged correctly- hopefully this is not common ..... I do feel it could be handled with new better hinge, or maybe just bend the top part of pipe in to on that side- just to avoid air or water to come thru that gap . An overhang all around it would be preferable to me. Worth noting I'm pretty particular about air leaks & 6/10 people probably wouldn't notice this or care 9/10 contractors would never notice or mention it - I had to look up through it in the sun to see it and then used flashlight to evaluate- it bothers me and I will fix it but I know many who would not bother so - DEPENDING on your personality you know .. other than this slight gap& poor hinge quality- it's very well built and comes with install hardware. For the price I feel I better hinge is in order - the hinge is sorta like a jewelry box type small and may be prone to wearing out and failing - there ARE better hinges to use in this application - with better hinge this could bec5 star item .

I'm going to be installing a (this) vent and ceiling light in my shipping container once it's here. Not hard to install if one of these in/on any roof/structure. In the case of my plan, it'll take more time and effort to torch the hole and prepare it to accept this unit than it will to install it. Good (enough) unit, to be sure, although I very well may spray paint it white, this desert eats stuff well enough without soaking up extra UV heat to boot.

I have an all metal shed that I work in pretty often. Needless to say, it gets really, really hot.I installed a ventilation fan near the ceiling and ducted it over to this that I installed on the roof. It works perfectly for dropping the temp pretty quickly.The quality is top notch, with all metal construction and a damper to close off when the fan is not running.Just keep in mind you'll need some way to cut a hole for this. Either a giant hole saw (and a pretty powerful drill) or some sort of jigsaw or something - I don't claim to be a construction expert. The outer flange is decently sized and can cover up alot of miscues on cutting the hole, so it doesn't need to be exact.

Well built and packaged. Good finish all over and comes with coated screws. It's fairly simple as far as vents go but has a nice flap that opens up. The flap is real thin and flappy which lets it easily be blown open. Connecting this to a simple fan works nicely and I don't have to worry about much coming back. Comes with a large hose clamp.
