These are pretty silly and hilarious. I like to act very serious about a demonstration and these whip this out of my pocket and point to something. Kids look at me like I'm nuts. I also like to tap a kid on the shoulder with it and have them look at me like I've got 2 heads. Hilarious. Best $6 spent ever.

I absolutely love this set of three telescopic finger pointer sticks!1). I would say that the silver pointer stick is a hollow aluminum rod that telescopes to about 28 inches in length. This is the perfect length for an instructor to stand near a chalkboard, or white board, and still be able to point out a specific letter, letter combination, or whole word when teaching reading.Actually, I used to make my own pointing sticks for use with kindergarten and first-grade students. I might use a length of round, wooden dowel—painted blue; a stock-card pointed yellow star—laminated to last; some glitter to pull it all together; and I would hot-glue the star to the blue dowel. Sometimes, I might use a long paint-stirring stick instead of a dowel. All of these creations resulted in a “magical” teacher pointing stick. However, these magical pointers could not expand in length, nor shorten to carry easily inside my bag of “teacher stuff.” Thus, the pointers that I am reviewing are even better because the teacher gets to look really cool 😎 as s/he stands in front of the reading group and expands the pointer.2) You will receive 3 finger pointing sticks—one blue, one lavender, and one pink. The colors look nice—not pastel, but more medium shades of color. Each pointer stick is approximately 8 inches in length when closed.The pointing sticks seem to be durable and should last a long while. They easily expand and close, and they should fit easily into tiny hands.3) The cost of these three expandable finger pointing sticks is about $6, which is probably less than the cost of the materials to make homemade ones. Plus, think of the time that you would save in not waiting for the glue gun to heat and in not cleaning spilled glitter.Overall, these expandable pointing sticks are colorful, easy to use, inexpensive, and convenient. They would be great for “Reading the Room” activities; reading Word Walls with a buddy; and in guided reading group activities. With proper care, these pointers should last. I would definitely recommend them.
