This herding ball didn’t hold up long with a Doberman, but if you have a dog that’s less used to carrying all their toys, it might stand up to a bit more playtime. The assembly was easy with the included air pump. There is a small zipper opening in the canvas liner that you can fit the rubber ball into and inflate from there. My five year old dog was definitely interested in playing with the ball. But since all his toys have been of a carry-able size, he spent most of the time trying to pick it up with his mouth rather than kicking it around. This resulted in a puncture to the canvas cover within 5 minutes. It didn’t pierce the rubber ball inside, so it’s still usable at this point, but it won’t last long. The canvas carry strap also came apart when I lifted and swung the ball back and forth a couple times, so definitely not sturdy assembly in that respect. The construction seemed decent but if you have a dog that is at all mouthy with their toys, I wouldn’t expect this to hold up for very long.My rating method:1 star - terrible. I wouldn't consider buying it.2 stars - marginal at best. Doesn't meet the minimum requirements or quality to be useful. Buy it at your own risk.3 stars - average. Meets the quality and requirements for a product of this type but is nothing out of the ordinary. If the price is good, I'd probably buy it.4 stars - better than average. Exceeds the typical quality of a product of this type and has a few extra features not usually found on other products of this type. I'd buy it.5 stars - exceptional - far exceeds the quality of products of this type. Hard to beat the quality and features included. Best value for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Shoot! For the price, this should have lasted more than 2 play sessions. If you’re buying for a herding dog, you expect a ball to be durable. This is not. And this was not due to lack of supervision. This is a low quality issue. This is a yoga ball inside. With an electric pump. But it’s the canvas cover that I have the real issue with! It is not tight to the ball so my dog is able to carry it around grabbing the canvas. She has not been left unattended. But she has ripped two holes in the cover. And the handle immediately ripped off when the human was carrying it.Also. It’s a canvas material not a neoprene or water resistant fabric. So if playing in the rain, dew, mud… forget about it.Disappointed. This is much too expensive for only two players sessions before it was ruined.

So the quality of the ball itself seems good and it was very easy to inflate with the included electronic inflator / deflator. I will say I really wish I had realized that the cover needed to go on before you blew up the ball but I guess that's something I should have checked before I started inflating it. The cover does not come already on the ball so because of that I figured it would go on after you inflated it but I was wrong. I figured this would be good for both of my black labs because I have one that is obsessed with any ball and then I have another with a bad overbite who cannot pick up a ball. I figured since this one had a handle on the cover both of them would be able to play with it. Because of its size it is slightly difficult for me to kick in a straight line and does not seem to go all that far so the dogs seem to prefer the smaller balls over this one right now. That could change in the future because they are very interested in it and so far nothing has popped it and they have not been able to tear up the cover. For the price of this I am honestly not sure I can recommend it but I guess it really depends on what you are buying it for. The quality seems good so I guess in that case I can recommend it for that alone.

Unfortunately it's been raining a lot in the northeast so my son's Bouvier des Flandres hasn't had a chance to play with the ball outdoors. He has several of these balls and with his size, they only last a few months but they're great for reducing his energy level and preserving ours. Recommended!

My dog is absolutely obsessed with this XL Ball. The ball itself is your typical rubber yoga ball of medium thickness. The cover is a fairly lightweight canvas cover and is fairly well made. I wish the fabric was a little bit thicker and more durable. The handle was convenient while it lasted. My dog pulled it off in the first 5 minutes of play. The handle needs to be made to be much more durable. The zipper flaps were the next thing to go as my dog would continually try to drag the ball by the zipper area which should be concealed much better. The included pump works great, blowing up the ball in less than 30 seconds. I have gotten about 30 minutes of doggie exercise time out of this ball but it is unfortunately not going to last too much longer. At the current price point and lack of durability, I do not recommend this product.
