The Uayesok GMRS antenna IS A GREAT PERFORMER! Out of the package, tested at 1.02 on a calibrated swr meter powered by a Baofeng UV5G PLUS (APPROX. 7.5 WATTS ) . When tested on a field strength meter, the Uayesok gmrs antenna tested approx. 10% stronger than a Nagoya 771g, 20% stronger than the Abree ar-771 gmrs antenna and 30% stronger signal than the Melowave Bandit-G antenna. The Uayesok antenna seems to be sturdy and well made and makes a solid connection to the radio. I will be using this antenna every day for the next several months and will update this post as to the ruggedness of this product.

Had a 'rubber duck' antenna on one of my radios, wanted a better antenna and this fit the bill.

As another reviewer implied, there are several things that affect the strength and clarity of a radio signal, but a longer than stock antenna is definitely one of them, and this one does help. It’s an easy add-on to your hand held radio and the first thing I recommend. It is very flexible too, and I like it.

As the crow flies, my buddy lives exactly .4 miles from me as the crow flies, with lots of walls, houses, trees and what not in-between. When I purchased a set of the Baofeng UV-5R radios and gave one set to my buddy, honestly, I was surprised that we could talk at all from our individual houses since this is not my first rodeo with HAM.Anyway, with stock antennas, we could hear one another but it was not exactly clear; quite a bit of distortion, feedback, slightly missed words, etc. After we each replaced our stock antenna with one of these, BAM, much clearer communication, so they do work. With that said, please understand that the main factor in our range will be the wattage of your radio. For example, the UV-5R is an 8-watt radio so even if I put a ridiculous 4-foot antenna on mine, it will not work as well as the 25-watt unit in my truck, dems just da facts, sorry. However, you can squeeze a bit more out of a handheld by using a longer antenna & that is all I was hoping for & it seems to have worked. Also, my buddy and I don't talk to one another over radios when we are home, that was just a test. The set of UV-5R radios I picked up are actually for when we are camping and cruising around on our two UTV's so we can communicate so I have no doubt these extended antennas will prove themselves even more in real world use.
