The Architect Shirt is Flint and Tinder’s nod to workwear shirts, but brings a fresh level of refinement and attention to detail to the classic silhouette. This work shirt is cut from a Donegal fabric woven with small neps in the yarns—basically, little knots of fiber that add depth and texture to the fabric—that gives it a rugged look from afar but gives you a super soft feel up close. The approachable design is reminiscent of a classic Oxford, but FNT added reinforced elbow patches, a split back yoke, and a side vent gusset that’s commonplace in hardwearing workwear pieces.

The shirt is great. The material is a bit heavier than a cotton shirt, more akin to a light denim. The collar is a spread collar, not an Oxford collar (with buttons). They describe it as a classic fit, which is supposed to be a bit more roomy, but while the shirt fits me, I think it could be a bit looser and you might want to consider buying a size larger if you prefer a really loose fit. It’s not so tight that I’d feel embarrassed wearing it out by any means. There’s some doubling of fabric on the elbow patches, but it’s hardly noticeable. The workmanship and fabric are top-notch. They say the buttons are engraved FNT, but I didn’t notice that, nor did it affect my enjoyment of the shirt. They also claim the shirt has a soft, worn-in feel right out of the box (comes in a bag), and I agree. This is my second piece of Huckberry clothing, and my overall reaction is positive toward this up-and-coming brand. The price on Amazon as of this writing is the same as the company website, so it’s not discounted here.
