This works well but depending on your guitar and high the string action is may limit how far up the fretboard you can clean. I can only clean up to about the 4th fret which cleans the majority of the strings, but not where most of your fingers make contact if you play a lot of open chords. If you really clean your strings, not a big deal. If you use a rag, then you will probably still need to use one if you want to clean the entire strings. Not the fault of the product, just the small space. It comes with a small tray that keeps the exposed cloth part protected. It was a bit difficult to open at first but once I learned the technique, it was easier.
