GHS FINGERBOARD CARE KIT
Guitar maintenance is just as critical to an instrument’s sound and playability as a new set of strings. Clean, smooth frets allow for optimal contact of the strings to your instrument, improving the instrument’s sound and playability.
The GHS Fingerboard Care Kit makes it easy to maintain your instrument’s frets and fingerboard. The kit is ideal for all stringed instruments with natural, non-glossy, darker fingerboards. This includes acoustic, electric, classical and bass guitars as well as ukuleles and other fretted instruments.
The GHS Fingerboard Care Kit includes a Fret Buffer, GHS Fingerboard Cleaner/Conditioner and a Cloth.
GHS FINGERBOARD CARE KIT - FRET BUFFER

GHS FINGERBOARD CARE KIT - FRET BUFFER
- Step 1: Remove old strings.
- Step 2: Use the “dark” side of the fret buffer to clean your frets (always go up and down using moderate pressure. Be careful not to touch the fingerboard with the buffer).
- Step 3: Use the “light” side of the fret buffer to polish your frets.
- Step 4: Use the enclosed cloth to apply the conditioner to the fingerboard. Depending on how dirty the fingerboard is you may need to use more. However, a light covering is usually all that is needed.
- Step 5: Using the same cloth, clean the fingerboard. Making sure you get right up next to the frets to clean any dirt/grime that may have collected next to the frets.
- Step 6: Use a clean/dry section of the cloth to remove the excess conditioner until dry.
- Step 7: Re-string with a new set of GHS Strings!
Your instrument will love you for it!
Dirty Fingerboard
If your fingerboard, frets and strings look like this it is definitely time to give your instrument a good cleaning and setup.
Strings Removed
Dirt and grime have collected on the fingerboard.
Cleaning the Fingerboard
Apply a good amount of the GHS Fingerboard Care Kit oil to the included cloth and work away the dirt and grime. Note that most cleanings between string changes won't require as much cleaner.
All Clean and ready to play!
Ah, here is a clean fingerboard, polished frets and new strings. Your guitar will love you for it!
Clean up the mess!
Maple Fingerboard really shows the dirt.
Sometimes a worn fingerboard looks really cool. But in this case above, this is dirt and grime.
Cleaning away the mess!
Using the included cloth and oil, clean away the gunge.
Buff the Frets
The fret on the left has been buffed and polished with the included Fret Buffer. Additional buffers are sold separately.
All Clean
Nothing like a clean fingerboard. This improves the string contact to the frets. The dirt and grime won't slow you down or add as an agent to deaden the tone and sound of your strings and instrument.
