There is another review on here that is almost exactly what I'm about to say. This product bolts on just fine, but the shock literally doesn't work or help assist the tailgate drop in any way. As a 20-year veteran mechanic I thought perhaps the other customer was missing something. Nope. The shock that comes with this kit is completely unsuitable for the application. I have no idea how this company is still selling these. Yes, just like the other review, you must go to Ford directly to get a shock that actually works. This Hardware kit is fine, but you must upgrade the shock if you want the tailgate to drop slow.

Works great during summer. But when the temperature drops below freezing it is very stiff. When around -20 to -30 °C I had to take it off to prevent the destruction of it by forcing it to move everytime I wanted to open the tailgate

I would have added a picture of the issue, but I had to reinstall my old hinge to get to an appointment. After removing the old hinge, I put the new damper hinge in the old space and the bolts were nowhere close to being aligned. The hinge roller appears to be centered on this kit. On the OEM hinge, the roller is offset by a good inch. The part number on the box is correct and references correctly to my 2015 F150, but it looks like I received the wrong hinge in the box.

Overall it is a fairly simple install with the correct tools. The quality of the hinge is on par with the stock hinge and liked that everthing is tucked away behind the taillight.Unfortunately the strut isn't strong enough to keep the tailgate from slaming. It hardly makes much, if any of a noticeable difference in the speed in which the tailgate lowers.My first thought was that I had received a bad strut and ordered a replacement. However after I exchanged the original strut with the replacement one I ended up the same results.Im not sure if this is a common occurrence but the resistace of the strut is severely lacking.If a similar product is selected, I would suggest tapping the lower the connection point from the backside as mine was not threaded.Update- purchased an OEM strut on ebay and replaced the one in this kit- significantly more resistance and allows the tailgate to lower as you would expect.

Very easy and quick upgrade to allow for tail-gate soft open. There are videos online to show exactly how to install this. I used an impact wrench because the bolts were very hard to remove with a standard ratchet and Torx bit. Other than that there was no problem. A+

No instructions, but who uses those anyway.... angled connector goes up top.Works well, hope it wears in as it is currently quite slow to allow tailgate to fully open - I do not have tailgate step so it is lighter - not sure this is really necessary.Comes black, so paint if picky, but not very noticable either way.Original bolt are very tight because of (thread) locktite from ford.

The arm worked in the opposite directuon. The tail gate fell down and was hard to close . sent back twice!
