Installation Instruction
STEP1
- Apply gasket adhesive stuff on the bottom, place the plate in place and properly press it.
STEP2
- Directly insert the tiny in the pin.
STEP3
- Place the impeller directly on top of the plate.
STEP4
- Apply some soap( for smoother installation ) inside the housing. Apply some gasket adhesive stuff on the bottom of the housing and place it in place. Then rotate the drive shaft so that the impeller and housing can be aligned.
STEP5
- Apply some grease on the bolts and install it by a screwdriver.
STEP6
- Apply some grease on and in the grommet, then put it in place.

Stay away from this product. The water impeller is two large for the shaft spline and will fail immediately.

The diameter of the impeller was too big. Did not fit the shaft. Everything else was correct.

The rubber impeller that came in my kit which is for a 1978 johnson outboard, was incorrect. It does not fit snug over the drive shaft like my the one I'm replacing does. This caused centrifugal forces on the rubber impeller, not allowing to pick up and pump any water out through the discharge tube. Basically it spins out of balance inside the pump casing. Causing failure. The rest of the kit was correct, however I had to use the old rubber impeller in order to get it to work and pump out water again.

All the parts that come in the kit seem to be of good enough quality except the impeller. Picture #3 shows an impeller that was removed from the outboard and the new impeller in this kit. The new one is made of a much thinner and less sturdy rubber to start with. Then the brass hub in the center is not the correct size. The inside diameter of the new impeller is to large and measures .553" in diameter. The original impeller measures .506" in diameter. The drive shaft that this slides on measures .499 to .500". If you try to run the new impeller it will not run true to the drive shaft and fail almost immediately. My package appeared that it may have been opened at some point and re-tapped before being put in the box. Not sure but am hoping the replacement impeller will be the correct size. If not then this kit is basically junk.Did a return with Amazon and now received the second one. The bag inside the box has been cut open and it appears the impeller installed in the bag. The impeller is still the wrong size for the shaft.

Key for impeller is inferior. Almost ruined engine overheating. Needs to be thicker and heavy duty.

BUYER BEWARE!! This part is 50,000thou OVER. It should be 500 thousand and not 550 thousand. Running time was 20 minutes and it overheated the motor to the point the paint discolored. There's a good chance this has left damage to the motor. This deserves 0 starts but 1 star has to be given to leave a review.

Beside the impeller being the wrong size the rest of the kit fit and functions as it should.The I.D. on the impeller was about an 1/8 inch to big.

I don't know if I missed something when ordering this propeller kit, but the propeller diameter was bigger, the hole in the center of the propeller the drive shaft goes thru, than my drive shaft diameter on my 1975 Johnson 25HP. The plate, housing, drive pin, and rubber grommet were correct and worked.
